My Circadian Rhythm is Broken

My Circadian Rhythm is Broken

I slept from 6:30 AM until 5 PM Saturday. I got up to tinkle at like 8:30 but that was it. I slept all day. :12:

My circadian rhythm is broken. This has been going on for about 2-3 weeks. It is not the first time my sleep has been 'backwards' as I call it. The first time was the late summer, early fall of 2006 when I was really depressed and sick with Meniere's Disease. My Meneire's has been attacking up a lot lately; but I don't think that's the sole reason for my being awake all night and asleep during the day.

I have been trying to reset my circadian rhythm; but alas, no luck. :frown1:

One night last week I took a Benadryl at 11:00 PM thinking this would ensure sleep until at least 7:00 AM. WRONG!!! I woke up at 2:00 AM and couldn't get back to sleep before 7:00 AM. when I go to sleep at 7:00 AM I ususally sleep until about noon. Then I am groggy throughout the day. Sometimes I nap in the late afternoon; but I try not to so I can go to sleep at a reasonable hour in the evening. I am not a morning person. I do not relish seeing the sun rise or hearing the birds chirp. I need this nonsense to end! :cussing2: My days and nights are completely backwards.

Is there a doctor in the house? How do I change this? Does anybody have any logical suggestions?

That sounds about right my allergy meds have done the same to me thus the reason for me posting this so late. When I do finally get to sleep it is time to get up and I have no reprieve until the next night. A lot of folks say not to nap in the afternoon even though you feel like the walking dead. But that is easier said than done when medications are affecting your body. I wish you luck.

I feel for ya, njqt. I've gotten caught in those cycles where my sleep/wake phases get staggered off kilter. Frankly, I hated it whenever it happened because I'm not a night person.

What I did to correct it was alot of physical excerise to make myself tired and want to go to bed at the correct times. It didn't always work but it was the only thing I could think of to try to help.

Otherwise, it could take me a couple of weeks to get back on cycle.
