My life has been tossed a curve ball.

After several good years (4, going on 5) it has finally happened, I got the pink slip at work today. Lucky
f-ing me.
Long story short, went in today, worked half my shift was called to the office and told “Due to budget crunching we have to let a few of our workers go. And because you have been here a few years and earn more then the new workers it makes more sense to let Pete, Jake, Dustin and you go” Oh but I could go ahead and finish my shift if I wanted to but would not get paid for it. So I left, do you blame me? Went home and after a few hours of being pissed off sucked it up took a shower put on my best outfit and went out job searching. Applied at 6 stores today (Lowes, Wal-Mart, Target, Kitchen Collection, Paper factory and 50 off) Tomorrow I will head out again I guess. And to make a bad day worse, my brother called me just to rub the fact that I lost my job in and tell me that him and his wife are going to Florida tomorrow. So my life was just tossed a huge curve ball, guess all I can do now is hope.
Sorry for the rant, that’s why I posted this as a blog though.

*covers Mr Bird with love and affection and hugs* damn it and damn the asswicks who pass out pink slips. tell me you stole something on the way out the door? or at least peed in the AC intake.... *smooch*

apply at Micheal's or JoAnne's... employee discounts are good.

sorry to hear that, hang in there man. good of you to get out there and look on the same day you got laid off...
many people would probably hang around and be pissed for days! good luck.

When you're knocked down, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, regroup, and move forward!

Good job going looking right after being laid off.

NCbear (who wishes you the best)

So sorry hon....Really good luck!!

With looking that is....I really do hope you find something new quickly....

Sending good wishes your way!! x x x

Sorry to hear that you lost your job. It is really scary that people are losing their jobs, homes, and retirement. Good luck with your job search.

Make sure your now ex employer supplies you with excellent references printed on his company letterhead and his signature. And make sure those letters of reference note you were laid off because of the economic squeeze. If they refuse, take a bit of pleasure in knowing you can hire the discounted services (usually $40 fee) of an employee support organization that has lawyers doing pro bono work who will contact your ex employer and put the squeeze on him until he does provide you with sterling letters of recommendation. Check with the free social services organizations in your area. Such outfits actually exist.

Sorry to hear about your economic layoff. At least you have plenty of good company.

midlifebear's recommendations & advice are excellent & au fait. I'm so sorry that you've been pink-slipped. I salute you for your resilience & wonderfully self-respecting good attitude. I'm sure that you'll find replacement enployment before long. Meanwhile, don't forget to sign up for your unemployment benefit! Keep in touch if you care to do so.
