New Home For Doggie - Not.

So this morning i was racing around to get the rescued dog to his new beach house before i had to meet a friend for lunch.
The prior neglectful owners called the dog 'Kilo'
but my 10 year old niece decided he should be called "Fred". I like the name Fred better and so that's his new name.
We arrived at the beach house to be told by the wife that the husband decided he did not want and would not have a second dog added to their household after all and she couldn't find anyone to take him.

I was late for lunch and off I went with Fred.

After lunch, I checked with the hospital about getting him into a therapy dog program, but they were full.

I checked with a couple of PR clients of mine and they were not in the market for a dog. UGH.

So i stopped at a pet rescue and doggie boutique on the way home. It was a very busy place and when i took Fred in found out why. They are not usually open, but the owner and her out of state friends stopped by the place to get something only to find the place flooded owing to a burst pipe. So it was a mess and all was chaos.

Dog lady told me her rescue program was full and she didn't have the money to pay for another dog, but if i could pay for the dog, she could do that. That's not an option. I haven't worked since October and have been doing nothing but spending money since then and am damned near broke.

The dog lady's friend from Minnesota and her 13 year old daughter were in love with Fred and the daughter was amazing with the dog and there was an obvious connection and i was hopeful they would take Fred back to Minnesota with them, but the mom and her husband are both doctors and so owing to their busy schedules, they said 'no'.

Just then, Bob the insurance guy came by to check out the water damage and was also at once in love with the dog and knew that a local judge was looking for a yellow lab to rescue.

SO - calls are in to the judge, Bob the insurance guy may foot the bill for Fred if the judge doesn't want him. So i am hopeful.
All numbers and pertinent information have been exchanged.

In the event no one will take him before I move to Dallas on Monday, I will have no choice but to take him with me and go from there. A huge pain in the ass, but he is too great of a dog to let go.

So here he is making himself right at home on a couch. I NEVER allow dogs on furniture, but for this poor little dog, i made an exception. lol. He's had a shit life and him taking a nap on a couch will not be the end of the world.

Love the new name. "Kilo" says it all about your neighbors.
You are really going the distance for this guy! let's pray that the judge will be the right owner for him.
