Pope announces that male prostitutes can wear condoms

That, in my opinion, has to be a consequence of this new gay/straight rating system going around. After all, the church is against both gays and condoms and most assuredly against prostitution. But this new statement acknowledges all three.

It's now "burned into stone" that these things exist! It is now accepted that they exist, and so they must be discussed. In the next go around, anyone who talks seriously about these things will first need to define the terms. Oh my. Guess what the impact of "percentages of gay/straight is going to do to the debate? If a few gay experiences doesn't make one gay, then we need to know how many is "a few".

I think the Pope's announcement is a small but welcome step in the direction of common sense over the issue.

Exactly what I said. So we agree, basically. But, additionally, it opens up more discussions, so that can't be a bad thing either, I feel, because it's well known that 'prohibition" is not a rational "solution" to the social problems the former state of denial fostered and supported. Discussions will define the world as it is, to be accepted and move on. Leaving more energy to be directed at what can and should be changed.
