Posting Pics on Dating Sites

The idea for this blog came from this thread, http://www.lpsg.org/1210372-post1.html. While LPSG is not a dating site many people have used it as such successfully. My tips are actually for the match.com or perfectmatch.com type of site.

These tips are specifically for posting photos on dating sites.

I don't want to see a guy with his arm around another woman! That makes me think they are still amicably together. It could be your sister but no one ever says that in the pic. I don't want to see him in a group of other guys either, because they never think to circle themselves. I have no idea who is the man placing the advertisement.

Common sense needs to be exercised. Unfortunately few people have that. :frown1:

Tips for posting pictures on dating sites:
-Post a clear, current, head shot of yourself
-Don't have other people in the picture
-Post more than one picture when possible
-Secondary picture should be a current full body shot
-Don't be drinking in the picture
-Is the only good picture of you really from your brother's bachelor party w/the stripper?
-Ladies, no cats in the picture w/you please. Mention your love of cats in your profile. (I don't know why dogs don't have the same negative cachet; but they don't)
-No Glamour Shots! Save those pics for your mother and family friends.
-If you are incapable of taking a decent self portrait, then have a friend do it.
-Better yet those photo booths at the boardwalk and the mall take a decent clear picture.

Not posting a picture on a dating site doesn't tell me that you are more concerned with personality than looks. It tells me that you are either ugly, lazy, or both.

My "favorite" is where they try to crop out the guy with them. All you see is this arm around the woman and it usually looks like the hand is reaching for the boob.

I'm never sure if the message there is
"I'm easy - grab my boob"
or
"Try to touch my tits and I'll amputate your arm like I did to this guy"

I found my husbands and lovers, without posting any picture at all.
I was very specific about what I wanted,and I'm not very fat,ugly
or lazy as a rule. I just didn't happen to have a digital camera back then, or any current photos, that weren't polaroids. The ones I did have, were me, on a ladder at work, covered with paint, with Eddie and Max
{The boy's,dogs!} climbing up the steps!
Why do you think mine worked?

I guess, if I were using a 'matchmaking' site perhaps it would have made a difference to me to see a photo. But my online relationships all started with 'talking'- and I often didn't see a photo right away, and by then it didnt matter. with my soon to be husband, I didnt see his pic til we'd been corresponding awhile and posting on LPSG. I just got lucky, that he is exactly what I want.

Can I add another rule...no gang signs with the hands or giving the finger. It doesn't scream "completely stable"....

What Cigarbabe and Sassy know that is took some of us (me included) years to finally get through our heads is that you can have a real pretty package and no content or take a chance on an undefined package, discover that substance, and then be even more shocked that the package is as beautiful as substantive.

You have an awesome package babe, men just need to see the substance in it to truly appreciate it.

....... yes you are so right! I do not have pictures on any dating sites so I must be lazy and ugly!

I have taken note of your suggestions:

I have posted more than one picture here on my profile.
All pictures are clear, include no female parts, pets, drinks strippers etc.
The pictures are deffinitely not glamourous.
I have included one pic which is a full body shot.
And all of these taken in the local photo booth!

I will keep you updated of responses once charges are dropped :(

I've chatted with potential dates online and on more than one occasion it all goes well until I send them my pic. That's when they usually stop talking to me. Oh well, their loss. Btw, your new avatar is hot.
