Religion Recruiters

I hate it when recruiters from different religions come to your house and try to get you to come and “visit” the faith they are preaching. I have no problem if you want to spread the word of your God, but please stop trying to get me to switch to your religion. I have my faiths you have yours can’t we just leave it at that? I have tried to tell them I am not interested but they never listen. I even shut the door on 2 of them once but they stayed on my porch writing out scripts from there bibles and left them on my door.
For those of you who might be wondering I have no set religion and do not attend any church, temple or anything. When I tell them this they look at me like I am Lucifer himself and then REALLY get going about how if I was just open to God’s love and this and that my life would be so much better then the current sin drenched one I have. How do they know my life is “sin drenched”? Oh, that’s right, it is sin drenched to THEM AND THERE RELIGION. How stupid of me. I feel a tad bit better now after venting. Anyone else agree?

I agreed with you 100% until I noticed you are from Missouri. Everyone knows Missouri is the most sinful state in the union. :biggrin1: j/k

So true............I mean where else would a 19 year old white bored kid make a sign that says "uglys" and hand it under a road sign that says BUMP.........I may of said to much............

Why let the opinion of others influence you so much? Be confident that you live a good life, and fuck the haters.

hi, every religion has its own methods of teaching, perhaps related to the Jehovah's Witnesses? Well they are good people great, but perhaps some are a little insistent .... at least here in Italy ... but always better than to profess their faith from a pulpit, and then act contrary to the life!

In my late 20's I was much more flippant than I am now. Evangelicals would approach me on public streets in San Francisco and tell me how much Jesus loved me. I'd return the favor by telling them how Satan, with whom I'd spoken that very morning, also wanted me to communicate how much he loved and cared for them. Their immediate recoil in horror was enough to pay me back with laughter for their rude interruption on what was an otherwise a pleasant morning walk to work.

Of course, I have no belief in Satan, Hell, Heaven, Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny. But I still believe it is rude to solicit a stranger's attention just to proselytize your personal belief system. However, the last time a couple of J Dubs interrupted my day by knocking on my door and asked "Have you heard the good news?" I responded by enthusiastically hugging them both and yelling back into the house, "Honey! We've won a new car!" That got rid of them rather quickly.

My approach is to meet these folks on common ground. I don't want to antagonize them nor do I want them to antagonize me. So I ask them to start with those things we can agree on. With some that is the end of the conversation as they seem to want only to tell me that I am wrong. However, with others I can have a civil exchange of views. Pro test (that is tell them of that which you find true and of good reportd). It saves having two people talking past each other. Consider that they may never have encountered a pagan who is. even by their warped standards, a decent person.
