Sherlock Holmes

A note to a very sexy woman

January 18 2012, 1:34 PM by Lord Henry Wotton

As a schoolboy, I read all the Sherlock Holmes stories, loving it all. The intrigue, the observations, the deductions, the mysteries. In the process I became quite a Holmes snob. Any attempt by others to modify the stories or to create new ones was shunned by me. Those silly movies from the 40's for instance. Lately there have been two movies by Guy Ritchie. I have to admit that I like these, but I view them as action movies with characters who share the same names and share some similar traits as Doyle's.

Also recently there has been a new BBC series titled "Sherlock." At first I resisted, modern day? New stories? Blasphemy! But out of curiosity, I watched the first one. I did enjoy the Ritchie movies after all. I have to say I was very impressed. So much so that I watched the first series of three episodes last Saturday and the first two episodes of series 2 on Sunday. The writers did a very good job (in my humble opinion).

The antagonist (kind of) in the first episode of the second series, "A Scandal in Belgravia," was a woman (Irene Adler), very lovely, slender build, delicate features (I guess that is more my appreciation of the actress, Lara Pulver, rather than the character), who . . . well I don't want to give anything away. Let's just say she knew how to control men, even very strong willed men like Holmes, by using her wiles, by using her cunning, by using her allure, and by creating and seizing opportunities. Oh, how I have such desire to encounter such a woman.

Or have I?

Yes I loved the series. Can't wait for the next one. Wondering if she be in the new one's do out.

I've actually dreamed about such a woman. My username notwithstanding. I've yet to meet anyone like Irene Adler.
