The F word

I'm a big videogame player and playing on XBox Live has caused me to question a certain word's widespread usage. The word in question being "faggot".

I think it's a sad state of affairs that this word is lobbed about with such disregard to it's meaning and effect. Little kids using that word as an adjective and as their general insult to everything. Same goes for teenagers and twenty-somethings in general. Whenever something is bad then for them "it's gay" and whenever they dislike someone they immediately call them a 'faggot'. That word is so hateful and ignorant and yet they use it multiple times a day.

What is it about someone being gay that is such a threat to them? Do they think that they'll be raped by roaming gangs of gay men? I would like to think that a gay man has higher standards than to go and have sex with a hateful, close-minded jerk. Although the image does amuse me.

I never use that word no matter how angry I get. I just call them assholes. Besides, being gay is not a choice but you have to work at being an asshole.

Forgive my soapbox moment. We now return you to your regularly scheduled cock talk.

Bravo!!! So much has changed over the years. Unfortunately, the manner in which the youth talk or behave is noticed more. It's not new, it's just now they don't care about who their audience is. They are bolder. Ride that soapbox. Even if some disagree (and they will) somebody out there will listen. If that one person listens, well maybe they can convince one more. That's RESPECT. Thanks.

I agree to, although im gay, i HAYE the word faggot. And you know what is really sad, when you own mother calls you a queer, fruit or faggot. So nice to have such support from the old bitch. And she wonders why i dont visit.

Hmmmm I know this is not at all helpful really, but a faggot here is a meatball and its delicious with peas, potato and gravy....

faggots and peas &
bend your knees &
oops a daisy ________

sorry... I need to go find something constructive to do...

"Faggot" is one word that holds back men from evolving. Men and women give much power to that word than any other derogatory in history.

I'm with craigy let me drop the real F word.
Fuck that.

If you let words hold you down you'll never be able to use them to your advantage.

I'm with you! You'll find that those who use that adjective have a limited vocabulary as do their parents no doubt! I'm a straight female & mum of 3 to boot. My 6yo boy has already come home from school using "gay" though he doesn't even know what it means! I've sat him & 7yo sister down & explained to them the modern "gay" that when 2 men or women have a relationship with each other. They think it's pretty cool to be able to be in love with your "friend" but sad that "they can't make babies, maybe they can get their mum to help!"
Further more! Homophobic men are just plain stupid! I worked with a guy who was freaking out because there was a gay man at work. I said to him "Stop flattering yourself! What makes you think he'd want to have sex with you anyway? Give the guy some credit for his taste!"
Some parents freak out thinking "Ooh what if my son/daughter grows up gay?" SO FKNG WHAT IF THEY DO! You should be grateful that your child experiences love and hope that they find a partner who respects them and loves them for who they are!
BEST WISHES TO ALL OF YOU & MAY YOU FIND A PARTNER WHO LOVES YOU & TREATS YOU WELL.

Well a term I've come to use is fag rather than saying " smoke" or " cigarrette. So often in chat I've said " brb, stepping out to suck on a fag" and it has caused offence to some. Sure, the way I say it is tounge in cheek but at no time did I ever say it so as to cause anyone offence.
So here and now I offer my sincere appologies to those that took the time to bitch slap me and complain. Thank f*** I don't have friends like them.

Isn't it strange how a word develop a slang meaning that then over rides the true meaning of the word.
