I started the new job this past week. The agreement is I work Tuesday and Friday at the old job and I work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the new job. But the new boss and I talked and we both agreed that if I ever leave the old job, I can work for the new boss full-time. The new boss is very familiar with the old boss, we both know that it won't take him long to have a melt down and that will be it for me. I will gladly start working full time at the new place.
I was super nervous about being in over my head, and the new job is very much over my head. But the boss is in the same boat and we are figuring it out together. The first day, we spent the entire day going over paperwork for the day before. I also did a spreadsheet so he can get the daily, monthly and yearly totals he wants. He seems happy with the progress so far. The second day went a bit faster, I did the paperwork from the day before and then I started doing the paperwork from the beginning of 2021. I got about 1/2 way through May.
Today, I am back at my old job. While I was gone, the boss had some meltdowns because nobody was here to do my job. In the week leading up to my new job, him (or anybody else) never took any initiative to learn anything about my job. And 1/2 way through today and the boss (or anybody else) has still not taken any initiative to learn anything about my job. So until next Tuesday, they will be in the same boat. No wonder I want to leave this job so bad.
The only bad thing so far (and the reason I am still helping out at the old job) is because my partner works there. I hate to see him take a lot of grief from the old boss. But if things are not going to change, I don't know why I need to keep suffering through it.
