Deep breath. Exhale. Ok. Here we go.
I don’t know where to begin.
Recently I became aware of a scene from a show called “Sex/Life”. The scene involves a character getting access to a gym shower in order to see the dick of his wife’s old boyfriend. He has been becoming insecure and wants to know what he is (in his mind) competing against. The ex boyfriend turns around in the shower to reveal he has a very large dick.
Now that alone isn’t overly problematic for me, aside from the fact that the show is promoting the idea that women get hung up on big cock ex lovers. That’s up for debate even though I don’t think it’s particularly true, but that’s another topic.
What IS problematic for me is this. The scene caused, what can only be assumed was the desired affect of shock and for people to talk. It worked. People talked and reacted.
What happened next is what disturbs me.
The media outlets realized there was a story (most likely pushed by the show runners and network) in regards to the actor’s dick and that scene. Some on the show were being cagey and insinuating that it was really the actor nude. They should go into politics because there was truth to their untruthfullness. They clearly didn’t want to spoil the illusion and also wanted to keep people engaged and guessing.
There were reports from people who grew up in the actor’s hometown who “knew a friend of a friend” who said that was indeed his dick. Mens Health magazine ran a story about how it was actually the actor’s dick and how there was no prosthetic.
The problem is…it was a prosthetic. I have watched the scenes and you can tell it’s a prosthetic. There was a prosthetic team that admits it was a prosthetic.
I have to imagine that there was a directive for the actor to not spoil the illusion. The actress who plays this character’s ex is his real life girlfriend…and she didn’t even come out to say it wasn’t real.
So what really bothers me is that a magazine like Mens Health would publish a story to help create a false reality like this. It’s bad enough that the show decided to pursue an age old “the ex lover’s cock was so big that she just can’t stop thinking about him” trope but then to use a fake cock and try and be coy and pretend it was real is just pushing the lines of acceptable deception too far.
Women have been sexualized for longer than can be remembered. Their bodies have been used for titillation, mockery and punchlines since the dawn of time. That is also a whole other topic. It seems that turnabout has become fair play.
What I have noticed since the start of the acceptance of showing a dick on tv and movies (which is really a more recent thing in the United States. Cocks have been hidden for the most part up until recently) is that dicks are used for punchlines or power/stereotype emphasis in tv/movies.
The small dick is used as a joke or to emasculate someone. The big cock is used to show someone’s power or superiority. However by manipulating a narrative to suit the writer’s own need/mindset creates a false reality. The big dick of the scene needs to be BIG so let’s exaggerate it to make the point. “Yes, her ex’s cock was down to his knee so how could she possibly get over him? He’s a god!!!”
What is a byproduct of the prosthetics used is that it is creating a new standard for what people think is real. A fake dick is exactly that. A fake dick. It doesn’t represent the average size but insinuates an average size the more often it is used. It’s just a continuation of what porn does. Look at all the huge cocks. They’re everywhere!!!!
I have also noticed, here on LPSG, threads that are riddled with altered photos/videos that make a penis look much larger (sometimes twice as big) as what it really is. There are also known members who are less than truthful about their actual size. Some using fake rulers or altered photos. Some claiming sizes that would put them into unicorn territory and surprisingly offering no photographic evidence to support the claim.
The problem is that some people (many, actually) can’t tell that some (many, actually) are fake. Some of the people want to believe they are real so they opt to ignore the signs, and even argue when it is pointed out that the photos aren’t real.
There are threads here with many members proclaiming of 10,11,12,13 and 14 inch dicks they have seen or sexually experienced. There are many explanations as to why this happens. Maybe they actually believe they saw a 13 inch cock. Maybe they aren’t good at guessing size. Maybe they want to have a “fishing story” and it’s all part of the story. Maybe they were told that’s how big it was and believed the person. Maybe, and this is the less likely reality, is that they actually saw a 13 inch dick. Who knows.
My point to all of this is…fantasy is great but abandoning reality for a lie that becomes your new “reality” is not healthy. There are so many men that struggle with feelings of inadequacy over their dick size. So to be bombarded with images of big dicks that aren’t even real is only reinforcing their concept of inadequacy.
We live in a world where lies are promoted at an alarming rate daily. The lies are also getting harder and harder to differentiate from truth given the ease of being able to fake the “truth”. If we will so eagerly abandon truth for fantasy it will come at a cost.
The byproduct of these fake cocks, whether it be a photoshopped/altered one or a prosthetic is that they now make authentic, large cocks seem average. Real life experiences will be so disappointing when the guy you hook up with only has a “mere 7 inch dick” as opposed to that fake 11 inch one you saw on Twitter.
I fear that sites like this are losing the battle against this. The one thread that has pushed back mightily against the fakery and fish stories is the “$10k ten inch challenge”. I have done my best to try and be vigilant and expose the people that are not being honest or are just delusion-ally promoting fakes on that thread but it is getting tedious. People believe what they want to believe, even when they know it’s a lie. The danger is in all of the people they convert over to their way of thinking along the way.
