So today finds me home from the office as the 5 year old had his school cancelled, the baby's daycare is surrounded an all sides by flooding, the older kids started school later, and the wife had to go into her office to save her residents.
I am looking out the window at the rain still coming down. My yard looking even more like a bomb zone with all the construction and now rain that is washing the dirt, now mud, away. It seems that today it was the husbands turn to stay home as my neighbor's wife went to work like mine. So rest assured that if it is Microsoft or Senior Assisted Care you need, we have taken this one for the team and the wives are on their job.
I just heard the familiar chime of my phone. The wife just texted:

"Still without power."
Understand she is a director at a very exclusive retirement and assisted care community. They have a generator, but it isn't doing the whole job. Water is just about two feet from washing over the beautiful marble lobby of the place. I know I am making light of this because they are wealthy and in this facility, but I truly do take this to heart as there are some facilities that don't take such good care and that are not fortunate enough to have a woman like my wife on the team looking out for them. All night it was Fire Chiefs, Sheriff's Deputies, and nurses calling. She was tireless in making sure everything was taken care of. I am proud of my wife and what she does.
We have kept our power here at home thank god, our house isn't flooded, and I am already coordinating efforts to help the people in our area that have damage from the flooding. I may be at home, but my phone and my PC are helping me accomplish a ton while the baby naps and Ian draws on his white board. he is drawing a map so I know where I need to send "super heroes" to to save people. Gotta love kids.
Well, I am back to making calls for now. I'll talk to you when we are a little drier.
