To get tongue pierced

or not, that is the question. Tis not a smart thing to have with braces, but being away from home means that my ortho care is now under another place where my parents can no longer access my information. My mother will no longer be able to sit in on my meetings with the orthodontist and I will be free from my piercing being leaked. I fear my parents finding out over the summer months and I guess I'll have to wear a clear retainer for it.

I think it's all figured out in my mind, I just have some minor catches that are holding me back. Eek like the unprofessionalism of that piercing, but if I have a clear retainer... no one will see it in the first place.

What am I so worried about...

hey well i got mine done in june and your not gona b able to eat for about 2 days and youll be talking with a lisp for a few days aswel so it'll be hard to hide, also you cant change your bar to a clear ball for at least 3 weeks so take that into consideration too before you make your decision

I had mine pierced 10 years ago.
I never wear jewlery in it anymore, but it is still open.

I would have to say my only regret is that now my two front teeth are chipped...so yeah if you like your teeth beautiful- don't do it!!!

If you start eating and sucking on ice (and ice water too) as soon as you get it done there isn't much swelling and as long as you don't eat spicy foods...you can eat---careful you don't bite down on the bar cuz that hurts like a bitch!!!!

Most people didn't know I had mine pierced because I have a long tongue and it was pierced towards the back. I saw my mom the day I had it done.

Sativa: You say it's still open? As far as I know, it's almost impossible to find the hole once the piercing is removed, which means that it would be necessary to re-pierce the tongue once again if you wanted to restart using the piercing. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

TK, whatever decision you take I wish you the best luck. I think you should get very well informed about the terms for what you can/can't do so that you don't get noticed.

Also, if you do not feel 110% sure and safe about the place where you'll get it done, I don't think it's worth the risk. That's my opinion.

Anyways, tell us what you decide!

cockoloco...
NOT in months and yup it is still open. I wore the bar in there constantly for 9 years (only took it out to clean). But had I removed the bar more frequently in the early years I am sure it would have closed eventually. My friend has had hers repeirced 5 times.

TK- whatever your decesion is, if you change your mind or someone notices- just remove it and have it redone later, if it closes up.
