Zen and the Art of Contradiction

I need to start taking my own advice.

Why did I post a reply to "Intolerance" suggesting "Stupidiy, ignorance, and unkindness" should not be tolerated and on the same day tell Arliss to "STFU"?

Mind you, I never had anything against Arliss except that he likes to stir up shit in a thinly veiled troll-like manner. But there are more thoughtful, productive ways of informing someone that deliberately punching others' buttons isn't necessary.

Arliss, if you're reading this, my apologies for "STFU". However, please think before you post next time.

I shall do likewise.

i respectfully disagree.

sometimes you have to call 'em like you see 'em. arliss doesn't and hasn't responded to people being reasonable as he showed in that thread. i thought your comment was spot on as he was insulting me and my post that took a lot for me to write and to post in a stupid, ignorant, and unkind manner. tolerance is great, but there's a point at which intentionally hurtful people become damaging to a community and its indivuals. why show someone respect who refused and trampled upon the respect of others on a regular basis.

i feel slighted and hurt by this entry, to be honest.

sometimes, if they don't listen to reason and can't be polite or even just not act like a pig, you have to punch them in the chest.

This is a meeting of the minds. Both of you resembling great people of history I truly respect. Mercurialbliss reminding me of Indira Ghandi and Snoozan reminding me of Joan of Arc, champion of the masses.

I respect you both very much and love that you both can peacefully disagree without it being insulting. that takes talent and heart.

Snoozy,

You're misinterpreting my intent. This blog is not in reference to the comment I made to him on your thread. He was being a deliberate ass, thus my comment was warranted. This was in reference to my post directed at him on the "where are Madame Zora and Lex?" thread. Seeing his snarky comment there after reading his on your thread irritated me. Your thread was thought provoking and touching; clearly much effort and heart was poured into it. The other thread is only a shout out to see where a couple of old members are. Apples and oranges.

Upon further reflection, I thought my commment to him in the other thread wasn't necessary. It's been pointed out to me that even though it may have been unnecessary, it was still warranted. Food for thought for me.

Please don't take this blog as a personal slight. It has nothing to do with my comment in your thread and everything to do with how I interact with others in a more discerning manner.

That said, if Arliss shows up again and makes more idiot comments in threads that people pour themselves into, "STFU" will definitely be warranted then. :gasthrower:

We talked about this offline (dude! we have lives offline, WHOA!!), but I wanted to respond to Osiris on how right he was with his assessment. It was at once funny and right on, and I think it's interesting to think about how differently we approach things when we tend to agree on a lot of things.

I just hope I don't get burned at the stake anytime soon.
