Yes, his character Shawn has recently moved to Havenport (fictional town where the show takes place) and he mentions having a boyfriend of two years back home in Texas. We don't see the boyfriend, they share a very brief phone call in episode 2. I imagine if the show were to get a second season we'd see the boyfriend or have some other romance plot for Shawn, but nothing for this first season.
