Great list, Spoogesicle. A lot of great ones on this thread.

But how come no one's mentioned Macarena by the Bayside Boys?

How could I forget "Der Kommissar"? And his version was the better one, too.
Slap it again, bliss. He also had a minor hit with "Vienna Calling". The fact that my oldest sister inflicted Falco on me as a child is something I still hold over her to this day.

There are so many-- including some of the ones I've seen in this thread-- that I've loved that it's hard to single out just one. But I'll add a couple of my favorites to the mix.

"The Lonely Surfer" by Jack Nitzsche (evidently, the only song he recorded for himself that cracked the U.S. Top 40)
"For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield
"I'd Love to Change the World" by Ten Years After
'Cruel to be Kind" by Nick Lowe

Nick Lowe has had other hits with bands like Rock pile.
And Buffalo Springfield had A Horse with no name.

Oops! Buffalo Springfield was a one-hit wonder. "A Horse with No Name" was sung by America.

And since we're splitting one-hit wonder hairs, Kim Carnes and Frankie Goes to Hollywood also had other hits :)rolleyes: @ me).

Matthew beat me to it on that one... but wasn't "For What It's Worth" a pretty big hit?
