I don't know what you guys would have done if you had played- and it's disturbing to me that someone would lie about their HIV status- but please know that if you were just going to do oral, that it is a VERY VERY VERY low risk activity to do with someone who has HIV, whether you are receiving or giving. So rare, in fact, that the CDC can't even confirm someone has gotten it solely based on oral sex. With oral, I would be more worried about whether the guy has the clap than what his status is.

If you were going to top- that is also a low risk activity- not as low risk as oral sex, mind you, but fairly low risk- as long as you use plenty of lube on your penis so that the skin doesn't break. Better yet, use a condom, as you suggested. Bottoming is pretty much the only activity I would not recommend doing with someone who is HIV+.
