I work in a pediatrics office; as a reward for good behavior, our patients are able to choose a sticker from a bowl full of them (a bowl full of stickers, not a bowl full of children). I can't tell you how often a 13 month old boy is not allowed to pick a "girl" sticker. "You don't want that one, that's a girl sticker" or "Your father would die if you went home with that sticker" or "Put the princess back and take this truck sticker." Because, apparently, stickers can make babies gay. Stickers are powerful shit, man, and can totally rearrange your DNA.
(By the way, "boy" stickers don't turn girls into lesbians. The Y chromosome must be very weak.)
I hear that kind of stuff too sometimes - not as much since I don't work with children (nor did I ever want to, but that's another story...) Sometimes I hear stuff like that in the stores like when a boy is looking at or reaching for a doll or something.
I LOL'd at this quote: "Stickers are powerful shit, man, and can totally rearrange your DNA." :biggrin1:
And actually, girls with traditionally male interests sometimes do get harrassed for it. I certainly did in my childhood! It may not happen everywhere as much as it did where I grew up, and may not happen as much anymore as it used to. We need to get past all that stuff for both boys and girls. Let people be themselves, as long as they aren't actually doing real harm to other people (you know, like killing, beating people up, stealing, stuff like that.)
