Yeh this is about the same as the guys who use a wide angle lens to magnify their appendage. You will notice that things in the center and closer seem larger and those at the edge seem smaller and guess what is in the center.

But tell yourself whatever you want, and keep telling yourself that...because only you knows what makes you truly happy. if you want those extra inches maybe you should learn to measure from your belly button. You realize 17" would be as long as your entire arm? a 10" girth would be as wide as your thigh. so it doesn't matter if you put a yard stick on the floor, its plain to see how big you are by seeing it in proportion to your hand. nothing impressive.
