So I directed a musical this summer, and my production assistant is bi-sexual. He was 17 when I hired him so I didn't really think much of it. He turned 18 in July. We spent ALOT of time together this summer, he did everything for me. file papers, go get me food, keep track of my life. The show finally opens, and at this time I'm giving him rides and taking him home because his car was no more. All of a sudden I have feelings for this guy. I can's stop thinking about him. Last night we were texting and he spilled the beans that he knows I like him and he likes me. We make each other happy, and we really want to date one another....the thing that worries me is how others will react: him being 18 and me turning 24 next month. How do you all feel?

He's an adult. There's six years between you. No biggie.

Except: He is 18. In terms of years, there isn't a big distance between 18 and 24; however, in terms of maturity, there definitely can be. Emphasis on the "can", as for all I know he's more mature than you are. While I say go for it, and I wish the two of you all the happiness you can handle, the onus is on you to be the mature one - if it comes to that. If.

Good luck!

I would look into the laws wherever you live. A teacher was recently sentenced to prison for sleeping with her students after they had graduated and were 18 years of age. Had something to do with her being in a "position of power" when they were underage.

Typing this on my phone but when I get home I'll post a link to the video.

Ps. I think this is a ridiculous law and do not agree with it one bit. I just want the OP to be aware of certain legal ramifications he could be getting into if he pursues this relationship.

This is a college student the op is worried about. At Shenedoah this is very common. There were quite a few profs dating students when I was there. It was common knowledge, but that was back in the early 1980's and things may have changed a bit.

A heads-up. You better edit this post or this post, or entire thread, may be deleted. I don't think you can even REFER to people under the age of 18 -- even in entirely unsexual ways -- on this forum anymore. I think that the rule on this forum now is that when you come here you have to virtually pretend that people under the age of 18 do not exist in the rest of the world in any capacity whatsoever. Weird, I know. But I didn't make the rules. :rolleyes:

Blue = irrelevant
Red = the important bit

Go for it mate and make each other happy, 6 years is nothing.

This is correct :) 13yr diff with the fellow I am seeing right now and it is the furthest thing from his mind. He is constantly telling me not to worry about it because we are just enjoying each other so much.
