Surely the easiest thing for any webmaster to do is to just move a site which may violate this law outside US territory. In this day and age, it is a very easy thing to do.

There were similar problems in the past with restrictions on the export of encryption technology which affected everything from web browsers to PGP. All they did was print out the source, fax it overseas, compile it there and wala, no problem ;) Where there's a will there's a way as they say.

It's not that easy. If a webmaster were to move everything to another country - his bank accounts, etc., that would work, but simply having the site hosted in another country would not work.

OK, start tossing, but why seal off 1/3 of the fun with duck tape?

Oh, I wouldn't dream of covering any of your apertures with tape. I have designs on your mouth as well! ;)

But won't it be fun knowing you can rip off the duct tape whenever you want?

the Republican Party does NOT stand for keeping government out of people's lives anymore. This drive to eliminate any sort of sexual free speech on the internet is pushed by the right-wing base of the Republican Party, who have Bush and his cronies wrapped around their fingers.

this battle is not over and may never be over as long as we have millions of people who believe that they have the right to restrict communication in this country - sexual communication or otherwise.
[post=323260]Quoted post[/post]

"sexual communication"?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Kink,

Where did you find such trash as this? Must be from the Soviet Constitution. Freedom of religion, free speech, right to assemble? Oh my! Kink we are in the post democratic age now. You know the Romans had a republic, but were smart enough to get rid of it and have an empire with crazy emperors. Emperor George I. Doesn't it have a nice ring? Emperor for life. If we could just get rid of that constitution. It does get in the way sometimes, doesn't it?

Those old fools Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, John Adams, George Washington. and others. Personal liberties? We don't need them now. We have Emperor George I to look after us and make our decisions.

When we need to go to the bathroom will we have to contact a federal agent to get permission first? Oh my! This may get messy before it is over!

Even dating sites are in trouble:

Posted June 23, 2005 at 10:55 a.m.

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- People trying to find dates on the Internet face new restrictions because of new federal enforcement of an existing law.

San Francisco based Gay.com is one of several major sites posting major new changes in the photos members can share of themselves. That follows the Bush Administration's decision to begin enforcing a new interpretation of a federal law governing explicit photos and other content online.

Under the new rules, every site must maintain records that all models are over the age of 18. That's causing problems for some community oriented web sites which allow members to post their own materials.

In their posting to members, Gay.com officials say their lawyers are fighting the new rules in court. They're urging members to contact lawmakers to try to stop enforcement of the new rules.

Ah...so here's the good news...

DENVER - The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) announced today a stipulation between the parties in Free Speech Coalition et al v. Alberto Gonzales, under which the U.S. Department of Justice agrees that the regulations relating to the federal record-keeping and labeling law, 18 U.S.C. §2257, will not be enforced against plaintiffs and all FSC members until September 7, 2005.

The U.S. District Court in Denver will hold a preliminary injunction hearing on August 8, 2005, after which the judge will determine whether to issue a further injunction.

Yes, I can breathe a sigh of relief for now. I'm still taking a risk, however. The DOJ has agreed not to arrest any member of the Free Speech Coalition until after September 7. However, they still retain the right to collect incriminating evidence, and if the law isn't overturned, they can use this evidence to make arrests as soon as September 7 passes.

I'm going to hope and count on the judicial system to see that the new laws are draconian and unnecessary. They basically assume that everyone is a child pornographer, and then it's up to you to prove that you're not. This is wrong. It should be the burden of legal authorities and the courts to assume innocence until proven guilty. (Obviously, right?)

Welcome to America, Version 2005.

Yeah, why didn't they just wait four more days so we could start celebrating 9/11 as National Tragedy Day?

"They" see it as "National Liberation Day." A day when the neo-right could take over under the guise of antiterrorism.

And "liberate" our property for the purposes of corporations.
[post=324049]Quoted post[/post]
Yes, the Supreme Court has ruled that the "city" can just take land from one private individual and give it to another under the best public interest rule. This is the latest coming from that group of old folks.

Sad Sad Sad
