One man was a brilliant scientist, and the other exemplified neo-conservatism.

I love Kristol's quip, " neoconservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality."

Kristol was a communist at one point in time like Reagan. Here's a better quote from him: "The trouble with traditional American conservatism is that it lacks a naturally cheerful, optimistic disposition. Not only does it lack one, it regards signs of one as evidence of unsoundness, irresponsibility."

His kid, Bill, was Chief of Staff for Dan Qualye, and is editor of the Weekly Standard, which he cofounded with another neocon, John Podhoretz, son of Norman, a conservative-formerly Communist, pro-Likud, Editor in Chief of Commentary, and former USIA advisor. Bill Kristol is also an Op-Ed contributor to the NY Times.

Strange how so many former Communists become equally hard line neocons. Must be a love of absolutism.
