That twinge in your intestines
And my Christmas Wreath. I am not sure if they do this in the US, but in Germany we have a wreath with 4 candles, the is being lit the 4 Sundays before Christmas. The 4th Sunday before Christmas one candle is being lit, the 3rd 2 candles, the 2nd 3 candles and the Sunday before Christmas and Christmas itself all 4 candles.
We Lutherans do. :)

Thank you! That wasn't even all. I have Christmas Table Clothes on every table and fir branches with lights in the hallway. And of course not to forget my crib (nativity scene). I'll take some pics of it tomorrow.

Oh, and PS: I am from the same state as your friend, from Bavaria!

Your home looks very festive. I know someone lives here who does a wreath with the four candles but she is from Munich.

Not just Lutherans, at least in the US. I have found it to be a Protestant thing. My grandmother who was born and raised Presbyterian always had an Advent wreath (or two or three) in her house, and we always had one on the chancel of the Presbyterian church I grew up in during Advent.

As for my decorations, it's still a bit early for me. I did put up my outdoor lights yesterday, but only because the weather was very good. I won't light them or do the rest of the decorating for another week or so.

But, here's a pic from last year, I am planning to do the same again. The glow in the windows is a single electric "candle" that washes out in the photo.

I wish I had a house, then I could go wild on the decorations. Planes could be landing in my backyard then :biggrin1:

The problem with all my lights in the front yard, it makes it impossible to stand outside at night and smoke

Are you hiding from someone?

I realize that I forgot an important part of that intended sentence:
The problem with all my lights in the front yard, it makes it impossible to stand outside at night NAKED and smoke

Oh.....I get it.

On a totally unrelated topic, I baked you a Christmas fruitcake to honour a little known Canadian holiday (don't bother googling, just trust me) and I need your address so I can,um, mail it to you.

Not even thinking about the holidays yet. Still recuperating from a week at the folks, and Mom knowing that we were coming had the house completely decorated. It was lovely, and I have to admit getting a whole lot homesick.

I don't decorate a whole lot. I'm hoping my daughter can change her schedule to come home for Christmas, but since she was with us for Thanksgiving I'm being greedy. I think the apron strings will tug enough! If I promise to put up a tree she might come home.

For one of the church trees that I do, I use completely natural decorations - pressed leaves, seed pods, twigs, dried flowers - to remind people that you can be the poorest person on earth and still have a beautiful tree.
