You heard me. The last reports of the tallied kills were 589-590 in the last going on week. No telling how many preggers Mama bears have gotten it.
To top that off, Fat Ass Chris Christie wants to extend it one more day just in case they don' meet their quota.
Nice, huh? Dumb animals being killed by even dumber animals wielding arm cannons.

Are these poor bears in places like the Pine Barrens or along Jersey Shore?

Somewhat, and BTW, they're black bears.

Hey, bears aren't dumb! They're just living and as developers tear away at their habitat there isn't anything being done that'll keep them safe and fed. Then they walk in to a newly residential area, the locals get bent out of shape. Give the bears back their land!

    I did find this:,

"New Jersey wildlife officials said today that 589 bears were killed during the state's six-day hunt this week.
The hunt, New Jersey's first since 2005, is part of the state Department of Environmental Protection's bear management policy."

If 'Americans' didn't give the Native Americans back their land, they won't give anything to the bears except a bullet to the brain.

Ok. Well, like Deer, you have to control the population from exploding. The DNR should have realistic numbers and pass out the needed amount of permits to hunt them down.

If you don't control the population somehow, you'll have a huge problem on your hands.

Not sure about "Exceeding the quota" - that doesn't sound right... The DNR should have a number, and that number should correspond with amount of licenses available.

Look, control is one thing- overkill is another, and this is just plain that as well as over zealousness. Damn near 600 bears killed is more than control, goddammit!:irked:

As any wild life specialist will tell you: "A fed bear is a dead bear."

Some halfwit in this past Tuesday's DAILY NEWS editorial section was stupid enough to think that they should leave a bear their(human)baby out as din-din for the cubs. What an asinine remark!:irked:Black Bears are probably just as afraid of us as we are them, so the likelihood that junior will be carried off as a snack is ridiculous it's enough to make reach for an extra ADVIL.

I hate when I hear on the news that N.J. is doing these things. Imagine your a creature in the wild and people move into your turf and then you're the enemy and the next thing you know the interlopers allow people to go and kill you. It's truly hideous!!!!!!!

WE ought to do like the curmudgeonly one, Dr ROCK once put it, arm the bears with a rocket launcher.
