There have been a series of SMALL quakes in a town near Fort Worth recently. Interestingly, they have begun pumping natural gas from under the town and even got nice royalty checks. Now the town has hired the Geology Dept. at SMU to study the situation to see if the quakes are connected to the pumping.

Some scientists have been predicting a big quake to hit NYC too. In fact i seem to remember reading a huge article (was it Newsweek) about what would happen to NYC if we had an earthquake and it didn't seem esp good for folks down near Wall street and the UWS who live in brownstones b/c of the way the floors are constructed. It was really an eerie article. I hope I'm in Vegas that weekend!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Here's an article from The NY Times.
