7x6andchg: You are correct, Radu

The city was named after Demetrios Ypsilanti (SP?), a famous Greek prince and general...who won independence from...the Turks?...

You can't see it in this picture, but there is a bust of him in front of this water tower.

Rikter8's been trying to tell you all that Michigan is a fun place! :D

HUMONGOUS:
Not at all.  I think most of us would agree with you, and I have yet to figure out why this is the case.  I know we have a ridiculously high number of registered accounts with zero postings.  I suppose I respect the right of people to read through the forums to get what info they need and move on.  I can also see how some people would feel a bit intimidated by the "power players" on the board; what with thousands of posts (not to mention that whole "We covered that already!" thing), it's tough to compete, let alone feel like something hasn't already been said.

Oh well, in any case, I know I love to hear from the new blood and I'm not afraid to show it.
well i certainly do not fall into the category of being afraid to post because i am intimidated by the power players. i do however think that when a new members joins they should be welcomed into the forum and encouraged to participate. new members do not know how to maneuver about the board and are unsure as to what can and cannot be posted. it takes time to learn these things. not everyone goes to the adm. board  to learn how to navigate the board. there should be more of an outreach to the newest members.
