“It’s one of the most sad and shameful aspects of our society. I have to say I’m totally embarrassed by this” Imran Khan, world-famous cricketer and leading Pakistani Politician

Pakistan's Hidden Shame (Exploitation Documentary) - Real Stories

Published on Jan 10, 2017
In towns and cities across Pakistan, tens of thousands of vulnerable young boys have become the victims of paedophile predators who seem to have nothing to fear from the law. It’s an open secret that few acknowledge publicly and even fewer want to do anything about.

In a society where women are hidden from view and young girls deemed untouchable, the bus stations, truck stops and alleyways have become the hunting ground for perverted men to prey on the innocent. In one survey alone, 95% of truck drivers admitted having sex with boys was their favourite entertainment. At the main bus terminal in Peshawar, a makeshift hostel for drivers passing through is set up every evening with around twenty beds lying side by side. Some are occupied by men, some by boys, and some by both. Most boys have been procured by hostel owners like Hassan Deen: “When a kid is wandering the streets alone, we lure him in by telling him we’ll give him some food and a place to stay. Then we pass them on to the drivers.” In return for a pittance, the men can have sex with as many boys as they desire.

Pedestrians stroll by as though nothing is amiss and police say they’re too busy fighting terrorists to have time for the children. Forever damaged and with no hope, many of the boys turn to drugs to numb the pain and sorrow.

One of the boys we feature is 13-year-old Naeem. Having been gang-raped by four men when he was just 10, Naeem is now a child prostitute and abuser of younger boys himself. As he says: “Sometimes I wish I’d never been born.”

'Pushback' policy: Refugees in Serbia fear deportation

Hundreds of refugees living in terrible conditions in the Serbian capital are refusing to go into official camps, fearing it will lead to their deportation.

Thousands of Afghans and Pakistanis have been deported en masse from countries in Europe.

In Serbia, hundreds were rounded up and moved back to the border with Macedonia.

The UN has condemned European countries for what it is calling a policy of “pushback”.

Laurence Lee reports from Belgrade.

Australian National Audit Office / appears to find CORRUPTION

apart from my suggesting the Australian current Govt are conducting very dodgy business with there mkigrant refugees on Manus Island and Nauru.
possibly a sweet little business/money making venture for those in the know

keep in mind NZ has over the years used those same security services in our prison service, despite our Govt being aware they are known to be of a dubious nature

probably a lot to do with what insiders can do/get away with, like the billions reputedly ripped off by USA companies with dodgy contracts in supposedly rebuilding the war torn countries they create wars in

Just hours before the end of his term in office, Gambia's incumbent President Yahya Jammeh is showing no sign of leaving, with parliament extending his term.

High immigration masks Australian economic decline

But often underappreciated is the role that migration has played. A huge increase in migration has fuelled headline GDP growth, keeping Australia technically out of recession. But, it's also masked a dirty secret, individuals haven't felt the benefit of this record run.

In fact, since the GFC, Australia has seen per capita income go backwards and it's only recent recovered.

The most recent numbers show a slight downturn in the long-term arrivals to departure ratio.

I agree rb. it has became a political football here. The problem we have found is we are on the other side of the world from many refugees countries. In between the time they arrive, people smuggling becomes a huge business. We rescued...well the Aussie patrol boats continuously rescued people sinking from leaking timber boats. What pe-empted the tight clamp down was one of the boats sinking off of Christmas Island

How do you stop people smugglers? How do you stop trade in humans... Australia accepted thousands of refugees from Viet-Nam, Cambodia and many other neighbouring nations during time of crisis.

Australia is, and always will be a multi cultural country. I apologise on behalf of my country, because once we were on top of the list for our refugee intake. We are 3rd on the list in the UN resettlement programs, yet fall below our standard in recent times.

There is much happening in this part of the world, with China extending it's borders and with what is happening elsewhere.

Personally, I believe a huge shift in the world is approaching rapidly. We may all find ourselves heading to NZ to become Hobbitse's :) That's if it does not shake itself to oblivion or blow away with those winds from Antarctica :)

Original boat people to Aus.... with their load of convicts....:)

Anxiety in the US over Trump's anti-immigration stance

Throughout his campaign Donald Trump promised to be tough on immigration and on Wednesday he signed executive orders that began to fulfill that pledge.

It is expected that the US president will temporarily put a stop to the refugee visa program.

He also has talked about repealing a program that protects the children of undocumented workers.

Andy Gallacher reports from Florida.

A ban on Syrian refugees will mean losing the war on terror. It would fuel European anti-immigrant movements and boost recruitment for jihadist groups.

We can’t imagine a couple that epitomizes relationship goals more than the adorable Joe and Fay Gock. These two Chinese refugees found each other in the 1950s, but their love for one another and their New Zealand farm continues to grow stronger every year. Always grateful to the country that granted them refuge, the Gocks have given back with numerous contributions to the agriculture community, including such innovations as the seedless watermelon, sticker labels on produce, and a disease-resistant variety of kumara (1:59). In this Dr. Seuss-inspired short, their charming tale is a testament to the value of hard work, creativity, and love.
