im no statistician.
but if you take the left third of the bell curve and call that "small", take the middle third of the curve and call it "average", and take the last third and say its "large"- then the "large" group that is above "average" would be 7.5%.

so 7.5% of men sampled are 7.25" or larger.

I think the chart is pretty accurate I just think that it showcases that while, yes, if you fall between 5-7 inches you are average...but notice how it skews large. And for some reason a 5 inch penis seems small to many people when a 6 inch penis is often considered very nice, a handful, and even "big." Statistically yes, a 5.5 inch penis fits into the average category, but when you slice the numbers another way....just before 6 inches you see that if you feel like being less than 6 is "small" then this data supports that view as well as does many people's perceptions.

Attached are the two charts. The first reflects the actual data quoted from Mr. Average.
Average Penis Size

The second is what a chart would look like if 5.5 were truly the average. As you can see, in reality, penises skew larger than 6. If you have a smaller than 6" dick, it is a smaller dick statistically and it matches how people view them. This is important because it doesn't really help someone who is struggling with this issue that they shouldn't by denying their feelings especially when the data and perception backs it up. Better to acknowledge reality and then move on. Certainly you should move on but it is easier said than done.

"So the average penis length is 6.16 inches.
The average girth is 4.84 inches.

More recent studies have produced the following results:
A sample of 60 men studied by researchers at the University of California at San Francisco determined that the average size of their erect penises was 5.1 inches long and 4.9 inches in girth. A Brazilian urologist who measured 150 men reported that the average size of their erections was 5.7 inches long and 4.7 inches in girth."

Anybody else disturbed at that standard deviation of "average"?
6.16
5.7
5.1

Thats a full inch difference between the studies!

Also, since kinsey's study was self-reported, shouldnt that in and of itself disqualify it for any kind of statistical value?

EDIT:

Not sure why you would say I'm a troll?

Just pointing out some interesting ways to look at the data. I'm not sure why there is such a reaction when I'm just trying to use the data objectively. What's wrong with a smaller guy knowing that he is, in fact, smaller?

Nothing is wrong with that. But your 2nd graph has no basis on..... anything. It is just something that you made. It only has a single .5 range as well. The datapoints are nothing close to what should be used for a graph.

This is the numbers you would have if you used the kinsey numbers in your graph (remember that kinsey's numbers are flawed due to self reporting)
<4 - .2
4 - 3
5 - 8.6
5.5 - 18.7
6" - 52.7
7 - 9.5
7+ - 7.5

Yes, if you choose to believe kinsey's self reported 1948 study where people drew lines on post cards of where their penis went to and mailed it in... being less than 5 would be somewhat rare.

I think we are on the same page. My second graph was created by me to just be an example of what actual statistics "MIGHT" look like if 5.5 was truly a statistical avearge but obviously that isn' t the case. The stats you mention above show clearly that almost 70% of men are over 6 inches.

The stats are also wildly inaccurate. If I ask 100 anonymous men how big their penis is, how honest and accurate do you think the results are going to be? The fact that it is a full inch bigger than another survey should be sounding off alarms and red flags like crazy. But for you, they dont. This is a pretty big indication of where you are wrong.

What I am actually saying, is that actual statistics show that the average should be closer to 5.65 instead of your theoretical 6.16. Likely, the average is smaller than that by a little bit even as kinsey's study uses flawed data and I include their average into my average.

I'm not saying it the alarms aren't on. In fact, as I have informally looked at this personally I've found that guys underestimate. My current boyfriend thinks he is 6. But he didn't know how to measure. He is actually 7 when measured from bone above....so I think there is inaccuracies both ways...I don't think guys only measure incorrectly to give them a bigger size.

I just think that when you combine:
1. Probably most guys are over 6
2. Gay guys tend to be bigger than straight guys (there is research that supports this even up to an inch)
3. If you are a gay guy with a 5 or 5.5 inch penis you are going to be percieved as "small"

Really? Because I know that close to 70% of guys will lie about their penis size up to a large degree, even BEYOND 3 inches.
I know of dozens of guys that claim to be more than 10 inches in size, but in reality are barely 7, if that.
Anybody can make stuff up, and use anecdotal evidence in which anybody can spout off, true or not

These surveys and statistics are mostly useless. That said, if you check out your ruler and see where 5 inches gets you - that's a pretty significant handful. I can't imagine many women complaining about it.

Stats? Fuck stats. Stats will not get you laid.

You got, what you got. Crying about being cheated by a half inch or quarter inch does you no good. As long as your swinging it with everything you got, not only will you get an "honorable mention" but you will usually get "hey lets do that again".

Being a member of the mister average crew, it just makes me work/fuck harder to please her.

I'm much more of a snob about looks, body and personality. The size of a cock is pretty much the last thing I think about.

1. Not. If you define "most" as +50% - it is somewhere +5.575" (+141.5mm) [ +6.3" = 1 on 6 ]
Most guys ( 2on 3 ) are from 4"85 upto 6"30
2. Not - an inch in difference means a lot. There is no reason why gay guys should be bigger, only that in those researches gay guys are more willing to show up.
3. You have a wrong definition of small. Even a gay guy would be average at 5 or 5.5.
Your perception of average is influenced by porn - where all is shifted more than 1" to the right. ( less than 6" in porn is small - 7" average - 8+ big )

To end : I like to know which measuring method gives you a smaller number than the correct method.
And personally I've found that guys over-estimate. You find many proofs on this board. On either end. ( Only guys with a small endowment <4"85 are the ones who are underestimating - to be the smallest - I saw several pics of almost 5"-ers claiming that they aren't even 4" )

I don't get all the formulas a stats on size and I could care less I know I have a BIG DICK it's not GIANT but BIG for sure I am sure there is a scientist that could cum up with a formula that says I am 1.5 inches butt that don't change the fact that when I look down I see a nice BIG DICK.

You are very fortunate. Those of us who look down and see a small dick don't have that benefit. Good for you.

I don't feel that it makes much sense to classify 70% of penises and "big". The great majority are what have to be considered as pretty much average.

Attached is my way of categorizing cocks. I would consider only cocks 7" or greater to be big. And I would consider to be small only those under 5".

The term "big" is not to be confused with "big enough to please a partner" or "big enough to thrill a size queen" or "big enough not to feel inadequate about". Those are very different considerations.

While I appreciate your thoughts and perceptions...they are YOUR perceptions and only your perceptions. The 70% figure is based on actual data...70% of cocks are over 6 inches. Therefore if you are less than 6 inches your cock is smaller than average.
