I had to call last week because the fire alarm went off in my building. The 911 operator connected me to the fire department of a nearby town. I think it is set up through Comcast. The problem is that my address has a street name and a street number address, somehow it is messed up in the system. I don't even know exactly where that other town is. Either was I'm at the opposite side of town. The fire department told me that this are was once a part of that other town. I doubt that since it is so far away from that other town's border.

Today I called the local police and they told me to call 911 to check up on it. They were no help. I will try to call Comcast and have them change my address.

Sounds like it's Comcasts problem. It must be in their system wrong.

Doesn't 911 know what zip code you are calling from. I just checked out the address of the town that they told me I was in and it is 7 miles away.

I called Comcast and they are going to try to change it in their system. As long as they put the actual street name, instead of the street number I will be fine.

It wasn't resolved. Comcast told me that they gave me an exchange for the other town, and they are going to try to fix the problem. The lady said she thinks 911 reads and routes the area code and exchange you are calling from instead of your address.
