The other day, an author of a story from eight years ago reached out to me to tell me that he'd seen my comments on some other stories and that he thought I might like his story. When he gave me the link, (Stone Cold Drunk ), I realized that I had read it several years ago, and remembered what a great story it was!
The nature of these boards is that well written stories from long ago get appreciated for a month or two, and then once the author stops adding more content, they just disappear into the forum, and once they fall back to the third or fourth page, it's a miracle if they are ever read again.
We know that it can take anywhere from a couple of days up to a few weeks as we wait for our favorite current authors and posters on here have a chance to update their current stories. Lately, I've enjoyed What a Mess, which was last updated on Christmas, stories about Sean the Rugby Player, Norman, and the several stories that Dream Big has posted. Maybe if we're looking for something to do while waiting, it would make sense to randomly pick a page, go back and read some of the stuff written a few years ago. If we show the authors from a few years ago some love, maybe they'll be inspired to write again.
Just wanted to share these thoughts and thank Woody110 for dropping me a line. Hope this resonates with some of you. If anyone wants to share some old favorites, or who wants to go back through the forum and find some older stories, feel free to reply to this thread, so people can use it as a place to check out some old stories that might be new to them.
