I live in a place called 'Essex' in the United Kingdom. For the American and non-UK readers; if London was our New York then Essex may very well be about as close as the UK gets to Los Angeles. A huge trend here is women and girls getting outrageously plumped up lip fillers, cheek implants, botox, jawline alterations and goodness knows what other forms of treatment that makes them look, at least to me, rather grotesque and unattractive.

Particularly, the big stupid fucking lips. I find it ridiculous. And yet, the trend seems to be growing and not retreating.

So my question is; do straight men actually find this stuff physically appealing and sexually attractive?

And if so - why?

The lips, the scousebrows, the pout. Generic as fuck, screams of insecurity and puts me off immediately. Katie Price does at least have SOME personality, albeit obnoxious and rancid, but I suspect her snatch off like a wizard's sleeve by now so I'd only fleece her for her bank account, providing she 'approved' of my teeth and non-chav automobile

The old argument was do women seek to appeal to men or to other women, as so many fashion trends men actually found unattractive. The conspiracy theory back then was that gay fashion designers purposely strove to make women unattractive, so they would have less competition. Now, the fashion trends extend to surgery. God saves us. I dislike fake breasts, but at least they are hidden away when in public, whereas the bloated lips are always on display. I am old enough to remember when almost all women were slim and natural, free of ink and silicone.

Kudos to you for great fucking question, for this worn out section!

Short answer "no"; but I think some of it maybe situational, generational, fad following, lower cost/greater availability and/or possibly cultural.

I believe a great many people (not unique to women) go in for the nip and tuck sort of thing because they feel like a particular feature is unattractive or unappealing compared to _____ (fill in celebrity, model, fuck fantasy of the week, etc). It's not an exclusive problem to women though, but again they are the first called out for it.

People won't hesitate pointing out a female celebrity for eyes, nose, etc work; but low and behold the guy that has a hair line receding back to his neck or grey as fuck, appears on TV with a new rug or dyed hair.

Case in point just looking at this site, if the average guy could safely, quietly and at a low cost tack on another inch or ___(insert infinite cock size number here) too his cock they probably would.

Both sexes are equally guilty for holding lofty ideals of beauty and hurt themself as well as loved ones whether they know it or not.

Short answer most don’t no…

Longer answer… being from not far from the orange (fake tan) land there is a group of straight guys who also take their beauty to the extreme and emphasise idealised notions of beauty…

A lot of it is way over sexualised ( verging on pornstar looks) and the image doesn’t match the reality (trust me I’ve woken up with orange sheets a plenty)
And when a lot of the make up comes off…. Again reality doesn’t match what’s seen…

It’s also I suspect largely influenced by logo culture (the need to have an LV logo on something to show wealth?)

For a quick one nighter mostly it’s passable …. Much longer.. no thanks

Short answer is, this is the consequence of unchecked, and unnecessary hypergamy practiced by a large percentage of women whose mating and relationship habits are no longer dictated by lack of income or agency. Sure there some part of this is women dressing for other women, but even then I'd argue it's a competitive thing for male attention.
Just about any unrealistic or largely unattainable beauty standard throughout time has been cultivated by a small portion of the male population, specifically those with the power and influence to have women seeking their approval and resources. In days past only a small portion of women were in a position to communicate with these men, but now with how social media has brought down a lot of class barriers which previously inhibited widespread interactions, men whom were only working with models and debutantes, are now being actively and aggressively sought out by average women, with whom these men don't mind sexually interacting with, giving the women the impression they have as much of a chance to pair up with these men. Hence they start adhering to the same behaviors previously only practiced by the image cultivated models and debutants of yesteryear.
At this point average men, who may not wield such power or socioeconomic clout often adopt behaviors, and preferences to mirror those of the select men in an often successful attempt to regain some of the appeal of average women.
The question isn't really if straight men on average find this stuff attractive, it's why average women are no longer interested in appealing to average men.

No. I really don't find the over inflated lips at all attractive. And I've seen many go overboard with the silicone cheek implants and the face lifts. Its really unappealing and makes me think that the joker is escaped from Batman again...lol.

I much prefer a natural appearance. Don't even like a heavy make-up. I actually worry about what some women (and men for that reason) are going to end up looking like when fillers are no longer an alternative for them and their strectched out lips instead will start hanging or sagging.

Total put-off.
But then I am 63, old school, don't man-scape, in todays world, a dinosaur.
I remember the 70's and 80's. even the 90's.
Women with bush!
real tits!
Different looking, tasting ,feeling pussies!
REAL WOMEN.
Individuals.
Now you are defined by your fake photoshopped filtered pics.
As I said , a dinosaur. And proud of it.
Luckily I still find young women complimenting me, even with my outdoors, graggy face, gray hair.
Luckily, there are still real women around.
Not every-one bought into the BS.

And there is more.....
Very few of these modified barbie-doll inflated "women" age well.
I see so many better looking older[45+] women who keep themselves in shape, look good, and never been under the knive.
and then I see their sisters who did "work" years ago. The difference is obvious( to me)
BUT: Free choice.
Any-one has the right to give in to their insecurities, and how many studies have not found that silicone tits and lips don't give instant happiness, better you, better job, better relationship.
Seems that there is a whole lot underneath the skin that manifests itself into self-loathing and drives them to the knive.
Elective surgery is BOOMING. Social media thrives on this stuff. That Creep Zuckerberg is loving this, just making more and more and more.
Wait for the class actions coming in the future.....It's going to be murder on the dance floor.
Ignorance, false promises, social media pressure, money and lives lost, broken old people.
Wonder what Bill Burr's take on this subject is.
OK.
Rant of the day.

Absolutely not. It is simply beyond me how/why these ladies are under the impression it’s attractive in any way.

Definitely don't like the filled lips look. Also things like botox, pretty much any facial plastic surgery, etc. The one that I am willing to entertain is breast implants. I can't explain why that seems ok, but it does. Maybe because breasts are so highly variable in their look anyway?

I would like to offer an alternative proposal, one that strikes me as intuitively correct even though the evidence is so scattered.

Consumers see the end result of these magazines, TV shows... um, advertisements, wherever sculpted faces are shilling crap at a store near you. But a commercial or a photoshoot are very rarely one-and-dones in advertising. This is almost always part of a broader campaign.

This is why Rihanna and other celebrities like her have wildly successful makeup brands, but you'll notice that the entire campaign features them not once. What do you think Rihanna looks like? What features do you like most? Great. Everyone can use one product to achieve most answers to those questions.

And the point isn't to look good in person or achieve physical beauty. The point is to look like the kind of woman who would appear as seen through a screen. Or posed. They don't even bother to hide the camera lens half the time, which must have Lacan spinning in his grave.
