Sometimes the language used by the men in straight porn really bothers me. So many times I have been watching one and I thought, "Oh, why did you have to say that? Was that really necessary? I was enjoying this one until then and now yuck!" As a result, I usually turn off the sound so I won't get turned off by what the guy says to the woman he's fucking. There have been some that have been permanently ruined for me. Turning off the sound won't make me forget that I really think that guy is a real dick, so I don't care about his dick any more.

It's just one of the reasons why I prefer watching gay porn. Men don't often do that to each other in gay porn and so it seems so much more sex positive to me and much more enjoyable.

I was just now thinking about this and a thought occurred to me, so I present my question to you, straight men of LPSG...

Is this a case of what turns me off turns straight men on? Have you ever watched porn and thought, "You know, this would be so much sexier if he called her a slut more often." Does that happen? Do you feel that the porn would be less sexy if the guy didn't call her a slut or a whore? How much of language like that has to do with how much you enjoy porn?

The total vapidity and sterility of most of the speaking in porn is a turn off and an annoyance. As others have said, I just mute it if it gets too bad. Just one of the many annoyances of the porn industry. I would enjoy it plenty more if it wasn't degrading both to women and to good sex and wasn't so racialized, but I don't have much hope. I just poke around to pick and choose performers that suit me.

If the woman sounds fake, mute it goes. Pan/degradation isn't my cup of tea either. Sadly enough, Asa Akira loves that stuff, but I don't. Too bad, as she's hot.

I think the statements that say "porn is for men only" are off guided- some women do enjoy watching with their partners (men or other women) but I'd expect that the classic stimulus response (to the visuals) is naturally different. Studies have shown over and over that men are visually wired and women are more emotionally connected to the "scene/story" of it all.

So the question, then, is the story- If you are referring to "classic porn" as a style that is sexually degrading one partner over another (usually women as the sub) ... WELLLLLL porn runs the gamut from Rocco Siffridi to Seymour Butts to European Twink Porn to Joe Gage piss porn... there is a wide range- and you can generally find a subset within any coupling that will be as soft and tender or as rough and kinky as you like.

So if you find something you do like, see if that director or porn house has another title in the "you might also like" category...

I'm a gay man, but I do enjoy watching straight amateur porn where the man is college/20s and lithe and hot. I don't like most straight porn because of the crap mentioned in the OP, and the ugliness of most of the men.

One of my friends ran the graduate program in Film studies at a major east coast university, and I attended his 4-session porn course while I was there. He presented gay-rape porn, female directed porn, and a substantial variety in between. What I drew from this course was that (a) porn is a fantasy, and usually replaces what is missing in your sex life, (b) that the audience is overwhelmingly geared to the male, and the female perspective is generally considered irrelevant and (c), it's a market driven economy (which is why all pussies and dicks have to be shaved unless it is a fetish jungle hair movie).

Female directed porn does not sell well, because it largely focuses on the needs of the women - the man always kisses the woman after he shoots (usually inside her), and there is cuddling. This is irrelevant to men wanting to get their rocks off. For couples, seeking out and supporting this industry might be a good idea.

I think the idea of the fantasy is crucial. I think it is fair to say that the male biological imperative is to dominate sexually and be in control (like the other primates). Human males have learned that this is not a good way to get a 2nd or 4th date, and have adapted their behaviour accordingly. In the privacy of their fantasy, and in a way that most would never dream of acting out in real life, they get to act out their animal desires.

Could they get off with out the dominating and degrading language? Probably. Given the choice between one or the other, what do they choose? It's a business at the end of the day, and the porn studios will do what makes the most money for them, without any regard for the (very legitimate) sensibilities of petite and MMe Rouge.

The ladies are quite correct - it is grossly offensive what happens, but until you start buying porn that is respectful to women in sufficient quantities, you will have to deal with porn for old conservative men with frigid wives.

I also dislike the sound in porn. The women I have sex with enjoy being degraded. We are all different.

I'm inferring that you are also trying to say that you enjoy playing the role that they want you to play? So even though this is language that does turn you on you still dislike it in porn?

There's no need to inform me that some women enjoy being degraded. Not only has it already been said by practically every third man who has answered this thread, I don't need to be told that because that's something I already knew.

My question is just about what MEN like to hear in their porn. MEN.

I like to hear the woman moan. I like to hear the man grunt. I don't care for dialogue. I don't care for degradation. It really turns me off when the girl does not sound genuine. Or like she's really trying to sell the show.

i might be gay, but i think i've seen enough pornography (and its ensuing debates) to pipe in....

no, this is not something that men are primarily turned on by.... i think the primary turn-ons would have to be visual rather than verbal.... nice boobs, nice ass, well groomed, etc....

in the fantasy world (which is what porn is used to portray), men like to watch sex in its most primal forms.... hard, raw, dirty and verbal.... the thing is: in porn there is no real passion involved; it's just mechanics.... when guys get all verbal in porn, they're just acting out the fantasy.... i doubt very much that they talk to their real lovers like that unless their lovers actually liked it.... real, passionate sex by an actual couple takes on a completely different dynamic because the connection between the real couple is so much deeper than a mere business arrangement.... the raw sex fantasy exists so much in porn because it's a safe realm for men to fulfill said fantasy.... in real life, a lot of guys would get kicked out of bed for saying some of the stuff they do in porn.... just don't take it too personally.... some guys just get carried away and say things in the heat of the moment like 'i love you!'.... hehehe.....

on a side note, i will say that there are 'turn-off' words in gay porn that people have tried to use on me during intimate moments.... like when people call me 'boy' or say something like 'FUCK yeah' and keep breathing through their teeth.... to me, that's an indicator that they are acting out their sexuality without passion and i can't think of a bigger turn-off than that.....

lol.... agreed peachness.... i've always found it ironic that some of the noise women make when making babies is the same noise they're making when they're HAVING babies....

Interesting you say that. When I was laboring at home and my husband was rubbing my back while we were both naked in a candle lit room....everytime I'd start moaning with a contraction he would get turned on. So we had sex (it didn't progress the labor as I have heard) but it definitely happened because of the sensual nature of two people who love each other experiencing something so intense and the sounds just add to the whole shabang.

Sorry to take your thread out of orbit Petite.

I haven't gone through the whole lot of posts on this but I would suggest that the male dialogue in straight porn has much to do with the lockerroom talk men grow up with...calling women sluts, whores, bitches, banging that pussy and all that macho crap.
