a song I detest

Jason? I think you're holding back there. Let it all out friend. Tell us how you really feel. :biggrin1:

You asked for it!

In a little while from now
If I’m not feeling any less sour
I promise myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower
And climbing to the top will throw myself off

Quick! Get that man a ladder!

Who opens a song with a line like that? It's morose and pitiful. Not what I want to hear in my car, in a bar, or at home. Listening to you commit suicide is not my idea of musical entertainment.

In an effort to make it clear to who
Ever what it’s like when you’re shattered
Left standing in the lurch at a church
Where people saying: "My God, that’s tough
She's stood him up"
No point in us remaining
We may as well go home
As I did on my own
Alone again, naturally

No wonder! She's probably living in New Guinea by now. Anything to get away from YOU! She pawned your ring for airfare. Get over it. Go home, jump off the tower. Just get away from us you moaning freak.

To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay

No gay person is this uncreative and ask the people upon whom you perpetually inflict your presence upon just how, "cheerful," you are buddy.

Looking forward to well wouldn’t do
The role I was about to play
But as if to knock me down
Reality came around

Reality sucks, doesn't it?? Get used to it. Grow up or get on. Just don't make a goddamned record about it and send it to every radio station in the country! We're not attending your pity party. You were talking about a tower? I know a few great ones. Here. Follow me.

And without so much, as a mere touch
Cut me into little pieces

You're a wimp! You cry when ideas hit you! Just up these steps now. Careful. Don't want to fall too soon. Might survive the plunge.

Leaving me to doubt
Talk about God and His mercy
Or if He really does exist
Why did He desert me in my hour of need
I truly am indeed Alone again, naturally

Maybe even He couldn't stand your tedious whining either and now you blame Him? Great. For someone about to see the Tetragrammaton in person, I don't recommend pissing Him off. Hurry-up. Yes, just up here through this door. Beautiful view. Wonder how it looks on the way down. Have a Kleenex.

It seems to me that there are more hearts
broken in the world that can’t be mended
Left unattended
What do we do? What do we do?

We suffer alone with our closest friends and family then we move on! Grief is personal! We don't air it to the world in a fucking lame ass song! There. That's a great ledge. Plenty of passers by to make a really dramatic fall. You'll make all the papers! Need any help over the side?

Alone again, naturally
Now looking back over the years
And whatever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears
And at sixty-five years old
My mother, God rest her soul,
Couldn’t understand why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
Leaving her to start with a heart so badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken
And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally

They took their own lives. You know it. I'm amazed they lasted so long. Obviously you brought them no joy and your mother no consolation. Now they're away from YOU! They're happy! They're in heaven and if there's any justice in or under it, you'll never be reunited! Now lean forward just a little. Yes, that's right. Be sure to scream on the way down to alert those below. You've taken enough innocent lives. Now I'm going to give you a little push and...........

Midnight at the oasis
by Maria Muldaur

Midnight at the oasis
Send your camel to bed
Shadows paintin' our faces
Traces of romance in our heads

Heaven's holdin' a half-moon
Shinin' just for us
Let's slip off to a sand dune, real soon
And kick up a little dust

Come on, Cactus is our friend
He'll point out the way
Come on, 'til the evenin' ends
'Til the evenin' ends

You don't have to answer
There's no need to speak
I'll be your belly dancer, prancer
And you can be my sheik

[Instrumental Interlude]

I know your Daddy's a sultan
A nomad known to all
With fifty girls to attend him, they all send him
Jump at his beck and call

But you won't need no harem, honey
When I'm by your side
And you won't need no camel, no no
When I take you for a ride

Come on, Cactus is our friend
He'll point out the way
Come on, 'til the evenin' ends
'Til the evenin' ends

Midnight at the oasis
Send your camel to bed
Got shadows paintin' our faces
And traces of romance in our heads

Oh, come on...

Send your camel to bed???

The last six months have made me hate the radio in general, but since you asked, I've decided to vent a little bit. I hope no one hates me after this (who didn't already)

Any hip-hop song with a dance attached to it:

-"Ay Bay Bay"-Hurricane Chris

-"Wipe Me Down"-Some ig'nant ass muhfuckas

-"Go!(Dumb)"-E-40 and Keek Da Sneek

-"Crank Dat Soulja Boy"-Soulja Boy

-"Laffy Taffy"-D4L

-"Snap 'yo Fingaz"-Lil' Jon, E-40, Sean Paul (Eastsidaz, not reggae)

-"Peanut Butter Jelly (Wit' a baseball bat)"-I dunno. *side note: That song was sooo old before cubicle people got hip to it and put it on youtube.

-"2 Step"-Unk

-"Cupid Shuffle"-Cupid

-"YEAH!"-Usher, Lil' Jon, Ludacris

...and then the others...

Anything by Lighter Shade of Brown, NB Ridaz, Baby Bash, or MC Magic*

"Keep The Heads Ringin', It Ain't No Fun, and I Just wanna (fuck you)"- Dr. Dre*

"Candy Shop, Hate It or Love It, In Da Club, Wanksta"-50 Cent*

*If you live in Socal and like Hip-hop, you know that Power 106 plays the hell out of anything west coast...or by Aftermath/Shady/G-Unit records. It's enough to make you throw yourself out a window.

Now the Rock portion...

Anything by System of a Down or Korn

"The Sweetness"- Jimmy Eat World

"Face Down"- Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

"Smells Like Teen Spirit, Rape Me, and Come As You Are"-Nirvana*

"Badfish, Date Rape, and Santaria"-Sublime*

*If you live in Socal and you like rock, you know that KROQ plays the hell outa those six songs like they just came out. It's enough to make any fan throw themselves out a window.

Relax there friend! Ain't no problems come 'round the oasis when Cactus is your friend! He even points the way! :)wtf:) :hitwithrock:

Vapid, vapid, vapid, song. The Equal Rights Amendment wasn't passed solely because of this song. I'm convinced of it.

I actually like Grace Kelly, Rehab and Lady Lumps, they're all fun and catchy.

Can't think of any specific songs I hate. I don't generally like rap or country.

Good point about the Ironic song, njqt. It almost adds to the lie that Americans don't understand irony, except that she's Canadian :p Isn't that ironic? No.

I HATE country music, but most of all I HATE that piss-ass whiny fuckhead song about "don't take the girl". What kind of fucking cowboy hat wearing pussy writes songs like that?

I grew up in a house where my parents played country music most of my life (in the 70's-80's), but fortunately I'm hard headed enough that it never got to me. MTV kept me on the right track!
