That's pretty much it, really. If you want a nice abdominal definition, you need to cut down on fatty foods and do some sit-ups.

Certainly, crunches are good, but you should probably have a number of ways of exercising your abs.
The big thing is cutting your belly flab to minimum, something that bp18 may not have to worry too much about, given his apparent leanness.
I have at various times gotten my abs into really good shape, but never shown much definition because, given my particular pattern of fat distribution, I just don't get the muscle-veiling fat layer down to the requisite degree of thinness.

in order to get good abs, you gotta do everything.

i've drank the better part of a six pack every day for the past 20 years, ridden my bike (did you know you can use your abs to ride a bike?), worked out regularly and stayed away from fats and sweets and still have an 8 pack in my mid 40s.

in 2004 at age 42, i noticed that my abs were failing me, so i decided to take action. i developed a routine that used most every ab machine in the gym and it seems to have worked.

    crunches are not enough!

Try this YouTube - 8 Minute Abs

I know it looks gay, specially if you plan to wear the same outfit as the guy in the video =P

    But it will surely help.

One bad thing about abs, though. If you don't have a genetic tendency to have hard looking abs, you will have to work hard and keep it up on a regular basis so that the results won't go away.

develop a routine of 300 reps of abs, 6 sets of 50 different excercises that work everything. you dont need to do it everyday, 3-4 times every week is fine. i recommend googling excercises that work upper & lower abs and side obliques.

    LOL Pecker!!

I used to work in a gym, and its owner always told me that you can do 1,000 crunches a day and still not have hot abs if your diet is off. That's my 2 cents for what it's worth, since I'm still working on my own diet!

You look like you are already fairly lean. I would say start with crunches and leg raises until they become easy, then add weight to make them very difficult. Keep the reps down and the difficulty up. But watch your back, you need to exercise it as well to maintain a balance. Work out 3x per week.
You will need to feed your body to make muscles grow, so eat lots of food, especially protein. Whey shakes are excellent.
Do cardio (running or skipping are the most effective) to keep your fat levels down, But not much! 30 mins 3 times a week. Excess cardio will eat the muscle you are trying to gain.
You need to be under 10% body fat to show abs. 6 to 8 % is really good.
I once went down to under 5%. Looked awesome but I felt sick.
That my 2 cents worth of advice. this system worked like gangbusters for me.

    Good luck!

Diet, exercise, genetics... dunno what else to tell you. If you're eating like shit, eat better, if you're not active, get active, and if you're still ab-less, blame your parents.

You may want to try the bicycle exercise. Lay on the ground, holding both your hands behind your head. Then, move one leg at a time, and move the opposite elbow to touch that leg at around the knee. Then do the other side, back and forth, etc.
I've been doing it for 2 weeks and it gets to the point where when I flex, I can get a six-pack. But I think if I go longer, it will get there w/o flexing.
There are better instructions on google and pics too

trick is to do something like one of those 8 minute abs routines every single day (i do it after getting up) then have a protein shake. i tend to concentrate on crunches while holding legs at 90 degrees, and do that for 2 minutes either side of the rest of the routine.
and dont touch a single gram of fat or sugar, you dont need either.

Crunches. Lots of crunches. Do them with the legs in different positions. Also, drink some instant breakfasts. Keep us posted on your progress.
