I remember hearing kind of a wild a rumor that certain arrangements were made between him and Tye Sheridan for Bryan Singer to “oversee” to in order for them to both be cast in Xmen Apocalypse?

Who knows. Matthew Lawrence did confirm in his podcast that he was up for a role in X-Men (it went to Shawn Ashmore). He declined essentially to do a "casting couch". It pretty much destroyed his career. He spilled the tea in a podcast with his brothers. He didn't specifically call out Bryan Singer, but he threw enough hints to confirm it was indeed him.

I'm sure a lot of young male actors went through this as well, but just played the game. Probably had some horrific experiences, but will keep it to themselves. Hollywood can be a scary place.

It doesn't lol. He didn't specifically say that was the role, but I think anyone can figure out what the prominent role was by looking at the X2 cast at the time. It was either the Aaron Stanford or the Shawn Ashmore role. He wasn't playing Scott Summers lol. I think some already know the story behind Aaron's casting. The original twink actor (Alex Burton) who was in the first X-men movie, but was mysteriously fired by Bryan Singer and replaced by Aaron Stanford. Alex Hollywood career ended after that firing.

After the stories from the Apt Pupil set, I would believe anything about Bryan Singer. That and knowing he and Kevin Spacey stayed good friends for years, except for the one blowup on the Usual Suspect set over the boy.

Oh totally. That shoot got Bryan Singer’s attention for sure. It was a multi page in the magazine as well which is unusual so I wouldn’t be surprised that Ben’s “people” paid extra for that. It’s a shame his acting went down like a lead balloon.
