In his long and illustrious career, Christopher Plummer demonstrated a chameleon-like ability to adapt into a wide-range of roles, from major dramas to comedy. I was tempted to post one of my favorite Plummer roles from 1987's Dragnet, where he played the deranged Reverend Jonathan Whirley who moonlighted as the high priest of P.A.G.A.N. (People Against Goodness And Normalcy) perfection.
However, in light of his passing I thought I'd post one of the finest movie death scenes I've ever seen. This video clip is from the 1975 John Huston film The Man Who Would Be King. Christopher Plummer appears in the final scene as English novelist Rudyard Kipling. His part is small and he is massively upstaged by Michael Caine and Sean Connery, both of whom should have been nominated for Oscars. The movie itself received four nominations. The song is The Minstrel Boy, a haunting rendition played in the last 35-seconds by the principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra.
