Corey Haim was originally suppose to play the Chris Chambers role in Stand By Me, but that part was then given to River Phoenix.

Any actors you could have think of that were originally suppose to play that role, but then another took over?

List them.

Stephen Collins was supposed to have the lead in Love Story as Oliver Barrett IV but David Merrick would not let him out of his touring contract. And Barbara Parkins turned down the role of Jennifer that later went to Ali MacGraw.

Eric Stoltz was half finished filming Back To The Future and was fired and replaced with Michael J Fox. And River Phoenix was set to play the interviewer in Interview With A Vampire, but died before production began and was replaced by Christian Slater.

Johnny Depp was offered Ferris Bueller but was too busy so turned it down. Coppola apparently wanted him, Depp that is, for the part of Harker (Reeves, eventually) in Bram Stoker's Dracula but the studio didn't agree. Balls, I say - that would have been a WAY better movie with Depp as Harker. In fact Reeves has got a lot of Depp's leftovers as Depp was apparently wanted for the Matrix, Point Break and Speed - but I may be going OT as he was never actually contracted to play any of those roles.

The part of Maverick in Top Gun was handed down to two actors.

John Travolta was considered for the role itself, but the producers felt he wasn't a big box office draw at the time.

Scott Baio was offered the part, but turned it down when he read the script.

Sarah Polley was originally cast in the role of Penny Lane in Almost Famous but she dropped out and the role was eventually given to Kate Hudson.

The only other thing that springs to mind is that Buddy Ebsen was cast as the Tin Man in The Wizard Of Oz, but he became ill from the silver makeup and was recast.

Also, not a casting change........but the original concept for the 1987 movie, The Lost Boys, were originally suppose to be played by nine-year old boys, but the idea was rejected and so they had to keep them as young adults. Totally different movie right there.

Also, the role for Mildred Pierce was passed on to actresses like Bette Davis, Rosiland Russell, and Barbara Stanwyck. But all turned it down and Joan Crawford was so after that role that would earn her the Oscar of a lifetime.

will smith was also considered for the role of neo but turned it down and signed on to "wild wild west." he really should have gone with "the matrix" instead.

I knew that but
will smith as neo? hell no.
