Consider this the "glass is half-full" take on the other thread about ads you hate. Props to Jason_Els, who had the same idea.

I'll kick it off with a spot that I remember as being among the first of the pull-out-all-the-stops commercials produced to run during the Super Bowl. Nissan ran this 60-second ad during the 1990 game to introduce the turbocharged version of the new Z.

You know, 30 yrs ago, if I'd have pulled that sort of behaviour with my parents in the supermarket, my mom wouldv'e blistered my backside the moment we got home without hesitation.

I don't think this one is as provocative as the one Jason posted in the other thread, but I've always loved this and still think of it sometimes even after all these years since it aired.

Sorry to upset Nudie, but I don't watch TV. I did consider doing voice over, but could never get a job doing it. Couldn't stay in NYC.

Not upset one bit, there is already enough competition. You are just one less person for me to loose sleep over on bad days.

I thought that about their Expedition Borneo promo too but I can't find a good copy of it on YouTube.

I used to have a postcard on my fridge that showed a Volkswagen campaign gone awry. It showed a billboard on a city street with the latest model of a Jetta or Rabbit or Cabriolet (can't remember any more, doesn't really matter). The ad copy on the top said "If this car were a woman, you'd pinch her butt".

Spray painted under it was written: "If this woman were a car she'd run you down".

    I always found that hysterical.

My favorite that supposedly was on American TV (but I never saw it except on a "Funniest Commercials" show, although we do have the particular fast food place they're advertising here...

YouTube - DUCK Studios: Wienerschnitzel "Gotcha"

Another one I saw on the "Funniest Commericals" show...

YouTube - Volkswagen 'Toy Story' - See Films Differently.

An old fave from the 80s...

YouTube - Wendy's Commercial - Soviet Fashion Show

And my current favorite - gives me a chuckle every time!

YouTube - Dos Equis: The Most Interesting Man in the World (2009)

There was an ad campaign a while back (sorry, can't find any of the commercials on YouTube) about how life without music just wouldn't be the same, and it had these people doing spoken-word like poetry readings of songs like "Play That Funky Music", "Boogie Oogie Oogie" and "Achy Breaky Heart". :biggrin1: Those songs don't work as spoken word! :biggrin1::biggrin1: (And I like "Play That Funky Music"!)

More commercials with great music (and also an indicator that my musical taste goes all over the place!):

    YouTube - Barilla pasta commercial - U.S.

    YouTube - Volvo S80 Love / Melpo Mene - I Adore You

YouTube - 2008 Chevy Malibu Hybrid feat. Sea Wolf
