I've been asking for a while...

And Id like to post a poll. Who would like to see a "Member Market" Thread?

It would host Wanted items, For sale Items, EXCLUDING Drug, Miracle Pill, or any other get rich quick item.

Who's in favor?

Again...this is for REAL members only, a chance to buy/trade/sell to your fellow friends, etc.

I Collect Vintage Christmas lights from the 70s thru the 90s.
Most people throw this stuff out, but I would want to offer to purchase them.

Stuff like that.

1) do you not have access to eBay? There are specific "Christmas memorabilia" sellers on there, just in relation to the specific example you have cited.

2) surely it would be better to run this idea past Rob first, rather than putting it to a poll; since it clearly alters the remit of the site, changing it from a discussion forum to a trading venue.

You might be interested in checking in your local area to see if there is a Freecycle online. (Google it to find out: they work through Yahoo Groups.)

Freecyclers post requests for goods that others might be willing to give away or they post a desire to rid themselves of something that's taking up counter- or closet-space, the philosophy being that giving a no-longer-needed object away is better than sending it to the dump or setting it out on the curb.

I got my current computer desk that way and I recently gave away a working clothes dryer that I had replaced.

I concur, alex8. There are trading venues outside this forum.

I believe there might be certain conditions to be adhered to, or obligations to be fulfilled, in order to preserve the ".org" status.

Since you excluded Drugs, Miracle Pills, or any other get rich quick items, I have to vote no. When you have a decent drug miracle pill and get rich schemes forum let me know...
