Hey lads, so I'm getting circumcised in 2 weeks time. Spare the 'don't do it' because I won't change my mind - sorry! haha. I'm 33 so have thought long and hard enough about it. Unless your in the same position, it's rather hard to understand but I have always felt like I should have been circumcised at birth.

What I was hoping for was to gain some before and after tips from those who have also had it done.

BEFORE
My doc said to not take any fish oil for a few days beforehand because this will increase the blood flow.

Can anyone comment of things which also should not or even should be taken which can decrease the blood flow? I regularly take vitamins, would it be best to cut these out also?

AFTER
Self dissolving stitches are used but I have read to take these out after 10 days to limit 'train track' scarring from appearing.
If there is any excess bleeding, cold compression should be used for 10 minutes every hour to stop.
Wear jocks to have the penis position upwards towards your heart to promote recovery.

Can anyone comment if it's a good idea to use anti scaring creams afterwards? I read Mederma and Vit-E Serum is quite good. Would you use anything directly after surgery, or only when the stitches are out?

So for those who have had it done, any tips or advice to help with a more successful recovery would AWESOME!

dude if you wear boxers I would buy yourself a couple pair of briefs to support your unit you need to make sure that your unit is not swinging around in your pants because it's going to have a fresh cut on it. When you go in and lay on the table the doctor is going to inject your penis with anesthesia so that he can cut your foreskin off it may be scary but the procedure doesn't take very long. I had it done when I was 19 the real problem that I had was the first few nights the uncontrollable night erections. It gets hard it pulls on the stitches and it wakes you up after few days you take the stitches out and you just recover if they ask you not to get it wet the first couple days so you know use your brain and do what you need to do. The first thing before you get it done enjoy whacking off with your skin dude because it's a totally different world after you get your foreskin cut off you don't have it to glide up and down with your hand or whatever you use for masturbation. It's gone you're not going to be able to jerk off for at least 3 weeks I know it was hard but I got through it and you will too. Good luck I have pics on my ID of my after I didn't ever thought of doing any before its just my afters. have you thought of asking if he's going to do a tight circumcision or a loose circumcision leave a little bit of loose skin on the shaft for erections and sex mine was loose and I really like the way that he did it anyway good luck. Full recovery is 4 weeks and you can wack or have full blown sex again

I had mine done 11 years ago. Buy some briefs. Thats the best advice I can give you. Not only do you need them to keep your wang in place so as not to bother the scar but also your head will be super sensitive to moving around so you want to avoid that. Heck Up until that point I hadn't worn briefs in years and now I've worn them about 80% of the time since getting cut.

Do not listen to others about not having it done, best thing I could have done. I had to have stitches around the frenulum area, when those were being taken out it hurt for a little bit.. While the Doc. was removing the stitches I was not too happy with a man touching me, I know it was his job, but I was very uncomfortable. The penis heals quickly sex is so much better and showering at the Y with others who are circumcised makes me feel like one of the boys. Good luck.

Thanks everyone .. Just curious if anyone here knows from experience. There are those that says sex/jack is a lot less sensitive/pleasurable than it was. I've basically had my foreskin retracted back the last 5 years so basically there's zero sensitivity or feeling there anymore anyway. Is it that sensitivity which people talk about?

Also ordered some Bromelain and Arnica which is meant to be really good to reduce selling and bruising.

Here is a list that seems relatively complete regarding foods and substances commonly available that could produce blood thinning and the possibility of more post-surgical bleeding.

http://www.ctds.info/natthinners.html

2. Regarding the sensitivity issue: the meatus, head of your penis, in theory become less sensitive because it has no covering after circumcision; e.g., when the tissue is constantly moist it remains more sensitive. The more important issue seems to be the amputation of numerous tiny nerve endings, some say thousands, that work in concert with the nerves within the meatus. And, remember that on some men, their erectile foreskin can stretch to over 3 inches -- of nerve filled tissue.

Friends that have worked for years on foreskin restoration tell me that while it keeps the meatus moist, the specialized nerves are gone.

3. I think that in young men, the amputation of these nerves is perceived as beneficial -- it helps with pre-mature ejaculation. On the other hand older men tell me they wish they "had their nerves and foreskin back" as they aged.

4. Eventually, these arguments get into the realm of "perceived beauty" -- like a facelift or ear-tuck. You as an adult have a right to this type of non-medical-necessity body modification as you see fit.

WARNING .. Do be careful in choosing a plastic surgeon with documented skill in penile surgery. Ask to see pictures of guys he has worked on, and ask for reference phone numbers to call to see if they are happy with the surgeons work. Make sure he is a certified Fellow in Plastics.

As a gay who has been popular enough to have had a very active sex-life in major cities around the world through my work and travels, i can tell you i have seen first.hand, dozens of really botched, messed-up adult circumcision scars. Some are crimson red, years after the surgery, some heal with a wrinkled compressed patten of skin pigment discoloration.

There is a plastic surgeon somewhere in Atlanta that has done something like 3,000 corrective surgeries on guys with adult circumcisions: whose cocks just turned out ugly, scarred, overly-desensitized. Sometimes his repairs are good, other times there is just too much dame from nurse.practitioners, or general surgeons. So chose a top specialist in private practice, NOT National Health Service.

Also, study the photos and phone the guys that have opted for "high-cut" versus "low-cut". Chose the one that looks best, and also serves to transmit what is left of the nerve endings.

I hope this helps you, Lexxy. I´m Jewish so lost my pride and joy before i was even a week old.
While, i like most Jews would like it back, and modern Jews no longer require this ancient tribal marking as a rite of passage for conversion, i understand the lower classes wanting to look like the upper classes in the university gyms

But it is still an adult choice body modification, so choose a highly skilled surgeon, not a gp.

G-ood look . hope that we have all given you adequate advice.

I kept my foreskin pulled back for about 5 years before my circumcision, which was 2 years ago, and I have noticed no changes in the level of sensitivity in my glans, so I'd say you are unlikely to lose any more sensitivity. Chatting online with guys who did not pull back before their circs, it seems that 6 months is the average time for the glans to get used to permanent exposure. A couple of guys I know actually say it is rather more sensitive!

Those who report extreme pain and sensitivity are usually those with phimosis, whose glans had never been uncovered until they were circumcised; other uncut guys do lose a certain degree of sensitivity over the years, as they uncover the glans to wash, pee, f*ck, etc, though it remains covered most of the time.

BTW, vitamin E cream is supposed to be good at reducing the scar.

Good luck with it, and let us know how it goes!

Yes, it's exactly that. If you have been retracted for years, your penis basically feels circumcised. I could never keep mine retracted for long periods and the oddest thing post-circ is the glans stimulation.

I'm astounded that anyone can be so uptight or possibly homophobic that they would have a problem with a medical doctor touching their penis during a medical procedure.

"i understand the lower classes wanting to look like the upper classes in the university gyms"

1. Guys, I apologize for that statement's snob-sound !

2. I did not meant it that way. Here is what I meant to say before the weather report of more storms came on the TV and distracted me:

---I had been in a gym shower in Guatemala City when another cut guy came up to me and said, " I see you're one of us". I thought he meant Jewish; he did not.

----He explained that the British Prep School boarding schools in much of Latin America used to demand that their boys be circumcised before entering In what Americans call 7th grade, e.g., it was assumed that it cut down on "self-abuse / masturbation / falling into sin" ....

Hence, being cut became associated with upper class, also hospital based birthing versus home birthings out in the "campo". The rural areas.

3. My understanding is that after Princess Diana refused to have her sons circumcised, that that Boarding Scool tradition has been relaxed.

.

I have heard that the upper classes in some LatAm countries adopted relatively routine circ, especially those closer to the US. I hear this repeatedly for Mexico, enough to make me really believe it (I try not to go on single anecdotes).

There may be something to this, as at uni in my year there were a few upper middle class students from Bogota and the two I saw (urinals) were cut. They could have been done later, but what are the chances of two? Not sure.

Voyeurcurio, the OP and others: we have to remember the influence of not just the British boarding school traditions on Australia and Latin America -- but, also the influence of Jewish physicians in these countries after the world wars.

Plus, people of most Faiths seemed to be obsessed with preventing others from falling into sin

Queen Victoria certainly picked up on all this - from a London newspaper columnist who seemingly was obsessed with preventing masturbation.

Also, since much of the porn was done in America: circumcision was identified with beauty, though this is certainly changing with the emergence of the countries of the former Eastern Block and their dominance in pornography.

Plus, we have to recognize that people just get bored with their looks and want face-lifts, ear-tucks, piercings and tattoos : so they can look like "other people" !

So again, my admonition to choose a highly skilled plastic surgeon, not some rookie that will leave our colleague with a big ugly red scar that won't go away for ten years.

No adverse expereince at all, everythingwas better after, you don't regeret the loss of the skin for long as you get new pleasures and exploration is great

How many adult cuts would your doc need to have done for you to feel completely confident? Just curious on some opinions.

Hey there!

I was circumcised when I was 17 and it was a mixture of emotions.

The operation itself was a breeze however looking down and seeing my penis looking so swollen and sore was a bit distressing.

I had painkillers to take over the course of 2 weeks and would take regular baths in antiseptic liquid and water to help keep the area clean. After 2 days I removed the bandage and let the air get to him.

Wear tight underwear at all times. The head is going to be so sensitive it's a very unusually feeling.

I was never able to retract the foreskin. So going from extremely tight to exposed head was very very weird. The stitches dissolve and they recommend waiting a month before sex or masturbating. ( I had to do it at 2 weeks, what a load) haha

The stitches will dissolve in a few weeks and with regular cleaning you shouldn't have any problems.

Since having it done 10 years ago. I now have the best sex I've ever had. Masturbating is great with lube and you'll love your new penis :)

Any questions feel free to message me. Good luck for the operation. You'll be great

I don't recall looking for a number per se, but I did get a recommendation from my primary physician. His sons are uncircumcised but one of them needed it done (I didn't press for details but I assume it was phimosis).

All I can say is that with anything (dental, etc) I just do some research.
