My two cents worth:

Get a high cut as it retains the sensitive inner foreskin and above all else:

Ensure that you use a doctor that uses skin glue rather than stitches. It creates a perfect result and halves recovery time. This is an absolute must!

The only places in my state that do it uses stitches and not glue. Does anyone else agree with this? Would it be better to travel to somewhere else to get it done?

I wish I could edit the above post.. but speaking to the doc again, he says he only does circumcision with the dorsal split which I think can only bring one style? And then gives the frenulum a little snip. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Lexxy, here is a reference page with some photos:

http://adult-male-circumcision.com/photographic-examples/

The Miami clinic seems to do a lot of repairing of adult circumcisions that other docs have messed up. They might give you a reference for one in Perth.

I think much depends on;

1, your own type of skin, colloidal skin conditions, etc.

Also depends on 2.High Cut versus 3.Low Cut incisions.
And fourthly a discussion with other on here regarding whether the frenulum should be amputated. My understanding is that it is better if the frenulum stays.

There are a number of opinions on LPSG...some angry some not, of what they feel was done inappropriate to them by poorly qualified surgeons.

But the following should help:

UPDATE

I'm bailing on my current doctor on Friday. I'm not confident enough that I will be happy enough.

100% getting the procedure but does mean another 2-3 week delay while I find another.

Keep the frenulum if you can - I was left with a smaller version which is very sensitive; and again, I cannot emphasise enough the difference that skin glue makes. I would also like to thank Glansout for the support he gave me before and after which I still appreciate very much.

Lexxy,

If you haven't found the following site already: it probably has some of the better pictures of the different styles of circumcision.

http://www.circlist.com/styles/page1.html

2. I would google around and get as many opinions as possible from those who were circumcised as adults -- regarding which styles tend to look best on adults with regard to the awful and disfiguring scaring that we have all seen frequently: as a result of adult circumcision.

3. While we all have different ideas on beauty, and philosophical reasons behind our actions, I think it is important to remember that the figures on circumcision PREVENTING AIDS have been greatly overestimated. Jews have lower penile cancer rates, etc, because we are better educated, have higher levels of hygiene -- associated with higher incomes. NOT because we are circumcised.

Good hygiene, condoms, safe-sex, not exposing yourself to pre-cursor diseases like herpes, syphilis: STDs that present with open wounds --- these are the strategies that prevent AIDS -- not circumcision.

I have unfortunately met quite a few wonderful Gentile guys that have gotten circumcised "to protect themselves from AIDS" and then go out and have un-safe sex.

Americans are far more circumcised than Europeans, yet, a vastly higher amount of AIDS !

4. Also, in case you are going ahead with an adult circumcision because of an adult conversion to Judaism -- we have a large Jewish community in Perth-- know that within the best educated circles of Judaism: there is a serious movement AWAY from circumcision. Viz:

http://jewishcircumcision.org/info.htm

5. I also have friends in Latin America and the States that got circumcised because they thought it was "cool", that the majority of porn showed "cut" guys.

That has certainly reversed, at least now in the States: the majority of porn available on the internet proudly hypes "Uncut" !

But, whichever is your final --and fully educated decision: please find a really well respected urologist with a specialty in plastic surgery.

Your university medical school department Head of Urology or plastics should be able to make a good selection for you.

---These guys know how best to protect the nerve endings and also how to minimize the disfigurement of permanent scaring.

Remember you also have a right to ask him for photos of before and after, and also: most have some patients happy to discuss it with you.

----- I have many Gentile friends that were circumcised as adults: who still can´t get rid of the ugly scaring -- and, as a consequence really regret it.

Don´t forget this all got "pushed" in Judaism because they knew it dulled the sexual sensations and without doing this surgery: MEN WOULD WORSHIP THEIR PENIS -- therefore this was done to PREVENT IDOLATRY !

I don't think it worked

---But, Lexxy, you've lived for 32 years with your foreskin, it retracts, it is not a medical issue: therefore, take your time in finding a really good doc.

---You guys in Perth seem to have a problem with "Botched Adult Circumcisions" :

http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/wes...ions-on-the-rise/story-fnhocxo3-1226701536216

As the famous American gay author Gore Vidal (President Kennedy´s brother-in-law) said:

"Once you cut it off -- it´s gone -- you can´t put it back on"

... So, call the University of Western Australia Medical School´s Department of Urology or Cosmetic Surgery: for a really good recommendation!

Cheers !

I had to get it done at age 40, I had put it off for years and with how it turned out I wish I had done it at 20.

Years or days either would have been fine with me.

I was in the group where from the first erection I ever had it never retracted which frankly I thought was "normal" No such thing as the the WWW. in the 70's no access to porn in my little town, and later when I did all the guys were cut, every guy I ever saw in PE or "the gym" and early on in the military was cut and I was well into my 30's before I was ever with a woman where I was not the first uncut guy they were ever with so they all thought it was "normal too"

I had the self disovling stitches and it was only about 4 or 5 days where I was getting woke up with the painful normally urine inspired hardons. Waited about 3 weeks to J/O and about 4 or 5 weeks to have sex with a woman who I had met just before, who turned out to be very tight, it was the best sex I had ever had in my life, instead of possibly a painful try that maybe I would have to stop before cumming and that was that it was three times that night and again in the morning.

Some sensible advice here. In some ways, circumcision is a small alteration, in other ways it is not, so it makes sense to research the options. We have a programme in the UK called 'Tattoo Fixers', and it shows what has to be done to fix a tattoo someone got when drunk or on some whim. (Basically, cover it up with a bigger, but better, one!) So don't take the first option!

Some years ago, I read an article (I've lost its URL, I'm afraid) which summarized the stages of choice. After initial research, some men will decide that it's not for them, but it will remain a constant erotic fantasy, while others will not be happy in themsleves (for whatever reason) until it is done.

And thanks, Ukboy - glad it worked out well!

My advice is to figure out exactly what you want. There are 4 style options in every circ:

Scar placement (Low-High)
Tightness
Frenulum removal
Scar shape (V or flat).

You should figure out exactly what you want for each option. Here's a poll i made that may be helpful: http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/602621/results

When it comes to the scar placement i think there are two options depending on your attitude to inner foreskin. If you want to keep it then i'd suggest keeping all of it by getting a high cut (1-2 inches from the glans) with a flat scar. If you don't like the inner skin then get rid of all of it with a very low cut (immediately below the glans) with a V-scar. Having said that, it might be worth leaving just 1/2 inch of inner skin in case you need to get a revision.

The tightness is the most important factor. Rather than saying ambiguous stuff to your surgeon like "um like tight but not like really tight?" i would suggest measuring the amount of skin you want removed so you can give your surgeon an exact measurement rather than hoping he accurately interprets your vague specification (i ended up with way too much loose skin 1st time round). As for the tightness you opt for, i would suggest erring on the tighter side of things as getting a circ that is too loose IME tends to be a common regret amongst adult circ patients, but I've almost never encountered anyone complaining about being too tight. Also really tight circs (CI:1) look the best imo, especially when flaccid.
My inital circ left me with a CI:3 (looked crap). My revision left me with a CI:2 (looks pretty good). I'm certainly tempted to get another inch of skin removed so i can have a CI:1 but i probably won't bother.

As for the frenulum you may as well get it removed. I never found mine to be any more senisitive than the rest of my inner foreskin and circs definitely look better without it.

If you get stitches then i would advise getting non-dissolving ones and removing them after 7-10 days. They are sturdier and more reliable than dissolving ones and you will probably have to remove some of the dissolving ones anyway as there will probably still be some remaining after 10 days which is not good. I had dissolving stitches on my first circ and my frenulum wound came apart because the stitches came undone. This would probably not have happened with non-dissolving stitches. I had non-dissolvers on my second circ and they were harder to remove (more rigid) but i stll managed it on my own.

Hope that helps.

For those interested. It's all done! I ended up going through a urologist on Monday who put me under completely. I was lucky that a friend introduced me to one of his who got it done by the same doc only a few months ago, and he knows a couple of other guys who got it from the same guy. Overall the feedback was nothing but positive so I went through him also.

Woke up Monday from the anaesthetic and apart from feeling a bit sick from the drugs I felt no pain at all. Penis was very heavily wrapped up so I couldn't see much. I couldn't leave until I could prove I could pee which I had problems with. Literally the pain was excruciating to pee that day.

Went home and just stayed on the sofa feeling pretty drowsy all afternoon. Again no pain whatsoever.

Woke up the next morning feeling 100% fine and ended up going to work at 9am even though I had decided to take the next few days off. (I just work from a desk but with a bit of walking around). Had no problems whatsoever.

Today (Wednesday) is about 55 hours since being done and I literally just took the bandaged off about 30 minutes ago. I was literally petrified because I've seen pictures online how bad it can look. The good thing is it looks pretty great and nothing like any of the pictures I have seen from others 2-3 days after. Little bit of bleeding and swelling on underside but entire top looks pretty normal and you can just see the stitches. Frenulum looks intact.

Not sure if I can post pictures on here but there were a few people really helping me via private message. I've taken pictures along the way and more than happy to share if you are interested.

I do think I am recovering a lot better because of my diet and supplements. I've been on a Keto diet this entire year which means I don't ever eat carbs (high fat, medium protein). This is inflammatory by nature. I stopped caffeine and my normal vitamins 1 week before because they had blood thinning ingredients in it. Instead I have been taken high doses of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Zinc, Bromelain and Arnica.

So far so good! Let me know if any questions.

So from now I will keep the same supplements up and order some vitamin c serum and maybe some other stuff (any recommendations would be awesome) to use on the scar once the stitches fall out and there is no more bleeding.

I've had minimum erections which is meant to cause the most pain from now on. The original bandage was quite tight which I think stopped me from getting fully hard. I am slightly worried about tonight with the bandage now off and sleeping but I might take some valium to try to sleep through haha.
