I noticed that Adult Circs are now available with skin glue in London

"Skin glue option for wound closure costs an extra £100 and has much better cosmetic appearance with virtually no pain post-operatively. Return to work is much quicker and this option is recommended for those patients who want to have minimal time off work, those who are anxious about post-operative pain or those individuals who wish to have a minimally visible scar line after healing."

I just wondered if anyone has had any experience with this method and can comment on the alleged benefits above?

Well, unless you have a true problem with your foreskin, there are no "benefits" to circumcision. It's a cosmetic procedure that always reduces the innervated tissue on your penis.

That said, the skin glue will offer a better cosmetic result than the sutures, but to think that cutting off the most innervated area of your penis would give "no pain post-operatively" is ridiculous.

When I was a child, I zipped up, and caught the underside of my penis, including my raphe. It bled for a few days, but as a kid I wasn't going to tell my parents about it because it was embarrassing (and, living in America would have surely prompted a circumcision). After it healed, I had a tightness there and a neuroma that I was very conscious about. Finally, at age 18, I went in for a scar revision surgery to essentially remove the scar tissue. It was a relatively minor affair. I didn't want my parents to know, so I couldn't use the insurance (they'd receive the report). I had to forego the anesthetics and limit the pain relief to "topical" to keep the cost affordable to me as a college student. The impacted tissue was removed, and the adhesive was used to obtain the best cosmetic result. This was 2002. Surgical adhesives are not new - check this out here:
Super New Glue vs Stitches for Closing Wounds

Going through with this operation had an unintended consequence - it partially exposed my meatus, and put the ridged band into mild asymmetry. But, I have a very high pain tolerance, as well as curiosity, so I watched the entire thing and the recovery was not too difficult. Did I feel it? Of course. Would I do it again? No. My penis was fine even with the scarring to the raphe, and I could have likely used some topical treatment to soften it up. I was young and uninformed, and had some insecurities around my penis (long story). I know better now.

But, to think you won't feel pain even with the best anesthesia - is errant logic. You're severing so many nerves. Your body will have to reconfigure itself to accommodate the change. That recovery can be rather lengthy. Ask any adult who has gone through circumcision, or witness any infant circumcision and you'll see, pain and recovery can be brutal.

So yes, after this stint of TMI... There are benefits to surgical adhesive.

Thanks Super P. but just to clarify, my question wasn't about the benefits or otherwise of circumcision, but of the benefits of skin glue versus stitches.

I believe the man was asking a specific question regarding a tangible option, and not an expression of pure opinion regarding one person's belief about the merits of, or the necessity for circumcision.

I have recently (two weeks ago) had a circumcision using the surgical glue. (I went to Luton, where they charge only £50 extra!) It is certainly worth the extra payment. The bandage comes off after 24 hours, and does not need replacing. The glue is flexible enough to cope with post-op swelling - and also erections!

As to the pain: there was absolutely none at all during the op. Afterwards, it was mildly uncomfortable for about four or five days, but exactly the background discomfort you get when any wound is healing; there is no pain as such. On a scale of 1 to 10: it was 1, occasionally 2 for a minute or two. Far worse painwise are toothache, gout, sunburn, or a broken bone (all of which I have had).

I had a day off the next day, and did light work the following two, then had a long weekend off. The swelling has still not quite gone away, so cannot comment on the scarline (or lack of), but a mate who was done the same way in June has a very good result. What i can see of mine promises well.

If you wish to know more, please PM me.

...and please enlighten me on how you've contributed to this thread? ;-)

I wanted to give all of the information. The question was open-ended. I didn't try to talk him out of it. The question was multifaceted, so I gave a multifaceted, neutral response. If you prefer a circumcision, certainly go for it, but don't go for it because of any "benefits", go for it because you want to do it. And, don't go for it expecting "no pain", because of course no matter how you bring the pieces back together, it's going to potentially hurt, or at least be uncomfortable. So, the OP stated:
I noticed that Adult Circs are now available with skin glue in London

"Skin glue option for wound closure costs an extra £100 and has much better cosmetic appearance with virtually no pain post-operatively. Having had a "touch up" procedure, I can refute the "no-pain" thing with a personal story. It wasn't a full circumcision, but used glue and certainly was no walk in the park. You think glue is going to magically make pain go away? Glue doesn't heal - it only mends two objects together. The healing process will absolutely hurt, if not be moderately uncomfortable - it all depends on how high your pain tolerance is, and how you react to negative stimulation to that area. I stayed up for almost 72 hours to ensure I had no erection, without sleep. My description for my touch up aligns with glansout's description for the actual full-on procedure. Pain/discomfort, describe it as you want - but do not expect to feel nothing. Each person is going to experience this differently. What hurts for one person, may not even be noticed by someone else. Case in point, I had four wisdom teeth cut out due to impaction, and I felt nothing (relatively speaking) during the recovery period. Whereas, I know people who were down for several days doing the same thing.

I just wondered if anyone has had any experience with this method and can comment on the alleged benefits above?
I commented on the alleged benefits with a personal story. To start a debate was not my intent, whereas to provide information was.

Here's a point to take home. Surgical glue is ALWAYS better than sutures, as long as the surfaces being connected are completely clean. In a medical setting in a developed country, this should always be the case. Another one is... never go into surgery and not expect the most agonizing pain in your life. What one person feels is not indicative of what everyone else feels. THAT was the point of my response. :)

I can only confirm. I was circumcised about 18 months ago, had only a few stitches and otherwise steristrip sutures. NO pain at all, not a single painkiller. Just some swelling over several weeks but now everything is absolutely fine.
