I've done a small amount of modeling in the past for the college fund, so I might have a different view.

I would, and have done some nude modeling, and definitely believe there is a difference between it and pornography. In any scenario where I had to be naked, I got the impression the photographs were more about the feminine body or the attire I was modeling over the typical and blunt sexual focus. There also seem to be "artsy" differences, but I guess you could make the argument that some pornography is art. Sometimes it seems like the only distinction between porn and not porn is level of production quality.
(about the college fund: given what's happening to tuition and aid to education, and the prospects for people who don't get an education, I wouldn't raise an eyebrow at most things people might do for money to get through school without megaloans.)

As for porn vs. not-porn: I think this is more about purpose. If the job of producing sexual arousal for the viewer overrides aesthetic concerns, then it stops being art.

Modeling was always easier for me if it was done in the presence of another person. Solo shoots were always odd in that you're the only person "up there" and everyone else is lurking somewhere in the backdrop of blinding lights and equipment. Male or female, I think another person helps to share the weight and adds a bit of excitement.

I am not too sure whether there is a steadfast point of "drawing the line," but for me it would definitely be centered upon recognition for my work to the point where it interferes with my everyday life and becomes unwanted.

I have a bit of an admiration for bondage modeling and the like though (I just find it fascinating and love the look), so I could definitely see doing shoots in that vain and really not caring what becomes of it later. I would also have no problems doing work for some websites like FTVgirls and have even contemplated it.
I'd pay good money to see that... ;) you have an amazing body. But all of FTVGirls is basically porn to me. I suppose it matters that some women (not all, of course) on FTvGirls do sex toy stuff etc.. I know some stick with softer material. I think at some level whether it's porn is a matter of who the publisher is-- if they exist to do porn, and you're posing for them, it's basically doing porn, not just "modeling."

:biggrin1: I love that response. But seriously DasLeezard, I'm sure you're just being hypercritical of your body. I have noticed that very attractive people (like you) are often like that.

from what little I see, you could easily do Cosmid... give yourself credit.

Thanks much, but I have a little more realistic view on my body. You'll never see me in belly shirts or short shorts because that is NOT the one you want. Sure, you can photochop and airbrush a picture all you want, but real life is a bitch. The scars, the stretchmarks, the cellulite... I realize that I was born about 400 years too late, and as much as people like to bullshit and say that 'the human body is an art form', it translates to say 'the thin, flawless body with no fat is an art form'.

You show me a current publication or an art class with a teacher that I can talk to that will accept my body type, and I will change my mind. Until then, I will stand by the statement that my face, without a smile, does not match the rest of my body.:biggrin1:

I was engaged to a girl years ago who had done some hardcore photo shoots with a professional photographer for men's magazines (1980s). She'd expected to be told to fuck while pictures were taken, but things were very 'staged' and involved her getting into various positions with men and holding them while being photographed from various angles, each session ending with the man making himself cum on her face. She said it was very un-erotic and easy to switch off and think of it as just a job. This was still photography in the pre-digital age, things might be more 'natural' in porn now.

I modeled in high school and again in my late 20s. I only did it again because I forgot about how hard it was. I didn't like it when I was a teen and didn't like it again 10 years later. I did fashion modeling for catalogs, and while I didn't mind the swimsuits I felt very, very self conscious doing lingerie. So, I know I could never do nude much less pornography. I was asked to do salon work for one of the shooters for I think it was JC Penney. I didn't know what it was so I said OK. Another model educated me quickly and I never showed up for the shoot.

Anyway, I remember the money wasn't that great. I thought models made tons of money. Yeah, right.

On another thread, (the link is below), I posted about how when I was living in Europe and was very young (19), some much older german friends I had met talked me in to going with them to meet a guy they knew who financed adult nude modeling, and what they called in Europe "Blue" movies. That was what they called porn. I was only 19 but for years I had already had many sexual experiences, almost all with older women, but in a lot of ways I was very naive and very uneducated in the ways of the big world.

When I got on the "set" and took off my robe the guy in charge was surprised and elated but not every one there was. They were already shooting a movie and the "world famous biggest dicked star" was not pleased. He was arguing with the guy in charge about me even being there, and it was very obvious to everyone that my limp was easily much bigger than his erection. To make the situation even more tense and chaotic, the women "models/actors" on the set were not at all attractive to me, and they started complaining to anyone that would listen that I was too big & they balked at the idea of working with me. I already had reservations about all this so after a few minutes of this I came to my senses & got dressed and left quickly. My german friends and the guy in charge all tried to talk me out of leaving while I got dressed and even followed me outside but I just wanted out of the situation. In retrospect, my german friends and the people when they saw me nude all saw money signs, and for me it was not worth that.

There was absolutely nothing sexually stimulating about the environment and the experience. So much for adult modeling and porno to be sexually exciting. LOL

Many people have told me and I frequently hear the comment "you should be in porno", or something similar to that is said to me. I just have to remember my experience to know exactly how lucky I am that I changed my mind and got away from that world before I was seriously involved in it.

Woa. Hold up there a bit DasLeezard. When I was at art school there was definitely no selection of models on the basis of looks. The objective was that students made a picture that looked like the figure before us, and whether anyone found the model, or the picture, 'attractive' or not was not a consideration. Men and women of all ages and sizes modeled in the life class. And I dearly hope that that is still the case in art classes around the world today.

I agree with you about publications selecting models with bodies that conform to the current somewhat stick thin fashion. But that's not the real world, and I'm sure I'm not alone here when I say that I don't expect or want you to be a stick thin model. I want you to be you, and if you're too hefty to make it as a cover girl that's absolutely fine. 99something percent of women are also unacceptable as cover girls, but it doesn't make them undesirable. Far from it. I'm saying this stuff because you're talking yourself down, and you really shouldn't.

Currently I'm model for a local club who were looking for men but were finding it harder to recruit than women. The leader, who is a friend of my wife, suggested I come along for a session as my wife told her I just love being nude and I'm not particularly bothered about who sees me nude.

One of the things that I always fancied doing was nude modelling. It is difficult to say why I fancied doing it, but I think that it was a combination of three factors. These were my love of being nude, my exhibitionist tendencies, but probably the most intriguing factor was the thought that I would be pushing my nude experiences in to a new area, namely, being nude when surrounded by total strangers who were not nudists.

I thoroughly enjoy the sessions and occasionally model with a women - it was strange at first but we get on well and feel totally relaxed modelling nude together. We have recently agreed to undertake some photographic modelling with more adult themes but it is early days and not sure how far we want to take this.
