Meebo, the all-in-one, browser-based chat client that I use is shutting down, leaving me sad and confused as to which multi-platform, no download web provider I should move on to! :frown:

I am looking for another program that is easy-to-use, requires no installation so I can access it anywhere, lets me sign into more than one account for the same service (i.e.: AIM/MSN/Yahoo) at the same time, and permanently archives conversations so I can pull my chat history up whenever I am logged in.

Their recommendations are Imo, Trillian, eBuddy, and IM+. Wondering if anyone has used these and which one you prefer from your experience. Thanks!

no doubt this is the recent flash update that stopped aim express from loading in Firefox have you got the most recent java and active x updates.? Since it is web based have you tried launching it from a different browser. Aim express works with IE but not yet with firefox. The flash payer plugin isn't listed in my FF plugins anymore.

I'm not sure this will help much, but I used Trillian a few years back and enjoyed it. I haven't even heard of the others, to be honest. :/ Trillian, at the time that I used it, could do all the things you want your chat client to do. :)

Trillian was fine a few years back when I used it too. I had it downloaded on my old computer, and I noticed my chat logs were gone when I had to un and reinstall it. Plus there were issues merging my buddy lists. Not tried the browser-based version yet. Never heard of these others myself either! I just want one thing I can stick with for a long time. :biggrin1:

Now I realize that my post could be taken to mean the fault is with what my computer is running. Had not even thought it might be interpreted that way when I submitted this thread! Google has acquired Meebo, so it is being completely discontinued as an IM client. :frown:

Another thing that has become apparent and I left out:

Which of these programs is most compatible with webcams and voice through all the platforms they support? Thank you!
