Trying to start a workout routine. I'm not obese or skinny, just out of shape in the sense that I'm not very strong and don't have much muscle at all. I have the benefit of looking much bigger than I actually am, but that's about it. Interested in strength with a more lean look, if that makes sense. Not trying to look like a bodybuilder, so lots of mass is not really what I'm interested in.

Any advice would definitely be super helpful. I've only worked out a little back in high school (mostly due to common core), so I'm not the most physically fit and would very much consider myself a beginner.

Since you're a beginner you will notice gains a lot quicker.
Might I suggest you try menshealth site for some workout suggestions.

Burpees are a good core exercise as well as utilizing weights. Just get in there and start somewhere.

Watch other people workout and try some of the things they are doing. Ask a member a question if you're in doubt about how to do a certain lift.

Squats
Dead lifts
Incline lifts
Decline lifts
Butterfly cable pulls
Row pulls
Lunges

Get in there and make yourself at home.

don't forget to stay away from certain foods like Milk and second quality beef(ex milk cows) ( pretty much 95% of the beef at stores ) these have High amounts of estrogen in them..

*Sigh*
Bullshit..... Again.
SOME products have TRACE amounts of estrogen in them.
Most of which are broken down and made biologically unavailable to your body when you consume them.
Even eating large amounts will not affect an average healthy person.
You're not going to grow tits.
It's not going to slow your progress.
This is just another example of a small observation being twisted, overblown, exaggerated, and regurgitated by ass clowns.

Look at the physiques of the folks giving you advice & read to see if they actually have any real world experience and you will have some success.

Yep. That whole shit about estrogen is 100% dude bro pseudo science.

Eating beef has negative consequences, but growing tits isn't one of them

Deadlifting is a solid way to build strength and muscle. It's a brutal workout that leaves you exhausted and satisfied especially when you start seeing the changes in your body from week to week. I do both the regular deadlift and the Romanian lift as well..

Can't wait to get my workout in today.
