Alerts for Threads I Don't Follow and Aren't New

I'm watching for new threads created under one of the forums.

Recently, I've been getting dozens of alerts a day about people starting new threads in those forums.

In reality, most of those are updates to old threads, like this one that was created 2 years ago.

Can this be fixed because it's making going through alerts a chore?

There is an option to get alerts when some posts in a watched forum. It's a seperate group of preferences from selecting to watch a forum.

I turned that option off and re-watched the forum yesterday. So far no alert spam, but no alerts about new threads either (maybe no new ones have been created yet). I'll reply back if everything seems to be working properly.

I don't think it's working correctly. I noticed that since I made the settings change, I've only gotten reaction alerts. I didn't even get an alert for your post in this thread that I created.

So somehow toggling this back on and re-watching those threads has magically fixed the problem this time. Or maybe something was fixed on the back end? Either way, it's resolved. Thanks for your troubleshooting help!
