I have been watching porn since the days of my youth beginning in the early 90s. I remember when a man like Ray Victory was like the ultimate stud and people like Ebony Ayes or Jeanine Pepper were considered the gold standard. Yes the acting was cheesy and the dialogue corny. The premises were contrived and manny of the scenes were looped. Yes some of the time the men were having a definite ‘semi-hard’ only day or the women could have stood to trim(not shave completely) their pussies before some scenes.
But you know what? I loved it and I didn’t realize how real all those things I described earlier(sans maybe the plots and looping) made the porn feel. Those imperfect people shooting less than perfect scenes made it seem like the people next door or a couple I could identify them with. Because many of the guys were only marginally more fit than the average guy and many only had slightly larger than average(with some exceptions) penises it didn’t make me feel any sort of way watching. The ladies very nice, to average to maybe even less than average bodies made them relatable to real women.
And the fact that you saw a lot of the same actors/actresses fucking each other on different movies for different projects, it seemed they too had developed a comfort and familiarity with one another. It made it seem like they really did have a connection which made the sex they were having more believable.
Somewhere in the early 2000’s that changed. It became about perfection and fantasy and less about authenticity. The titties got bigger and faker. The penises, well I can’t very much say they are fake but Jesus it seems If you aren’t 7.5 inches or larger, you need not apply for studio work. And both sexes are nipping/tucking/augmenting/injecting and doing all manner of things to their bodies to give them that edge and aura of being perfect. There’s almost no contrast to the perfect porn people unless you got to niches and then you just get the extremes of those genres of porn.
So I appreciate everything you wrote. I love how normal/average people bravely let us into their world of sexual predilections and peculiarities. It’s imperfect, often with less than stellar lighting and sound and sometimes through the lens of what appears smoked glass. But it is leaps and bounds better than the quotidian and trite trash that is put out by studios these days.
And also like you, my only real gripe is that the best ones are always less than. 5 minutes long, again, very close to real life!
