Here I am pushing sixty, and I finally learn I'm not an American.

Who knew?

I could pull a weak "show me where I said ALL Americans," but I get your point, and trust you got mine. My point is that many American voters do not want that, and doubtful we will be headed in that direction anytime soon.

Forgot where I was posting. At least I wasn't asked for a link.

And to be fair, I was indulging in some rhetorical excess.

It's true many, perhaps most, Americans feel as you do. But it's not monolithic (or Sanders's campaign wouldn't have gotten off the ground). And while we may seem even further removed from such changes now, the pendulum eventually swings the other way. No telling what the future may bring.

Trump credits social media with election win
WASHINGTON:
President-elect Donald Trump credited his provocative use of Twitter and other social media with helping him win the US elections, saying it gave him a way of “fighting back.”

In an interview that airs in full on Sunday on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” Trump said with some reluctance that he would be more restrained in his use of social media once in the White House, but said it was nothing to be ashamed of.

The powerful reason Americans are wearing safety pins following Trump’s presidential victory

“The fact that I have such power in terms of numbers with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, et cetera, I think it helped me win all of these races where they’re spending much more money than I spent. And I won,” he said, in an excerpt released late Saturday.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I was going to add levity with a joke about the handful of me & my friends without a Facebook or twitter account, that get fucked with by friends. And our response is usually, despite what tabloid kings like Harvey Levin claiming all publicity is good publicity, I beg to differ.

There is an interesting juxtaposition regarding this phenomenon. Although friends like myself are not in the rural areas, and may not share values of such, the demography supports the fact that most of people who voted for trump may not have been impacted by his vitriolic rhetoric from social media he gives credit to. That's why I go back go to the influence of the Broadcast media genre.

This mornings Sunday shows were all about coming together and moving forward. That would be fine, if weren't for

1) our military media folks who have a foot in both the military , and or public broadcast tell us for our research, it really is like I described. Dude, it's just like high school, where they want to hang on to innuendo & gossip instead of facts journalistic integrity, How could they think they could bring trump down with this shit when he's like a pig a trof, he lives for that shit.

Hell, compare Anthony Weiner & Spritzers scandals to those conservative congressmen still in office with abortion linked scandals deciding on abortion issues, they know how to play the game.

2 The media's role in this is what really gets me. When I last watched TV, I saw Chris Mathews, like few journalists, going through their hometown, claiming a Clinton victory.

It's not like I need it, but what about the We were wrong., We got it wrong, when pointing out the flaws of pollsters and the DNC.

Lastly, as I read though the backlash of angry white men, imagine my surprise when I read through gay periodicals for the first time this morning.

What a gut punch. Please tell me this is a misprint.

Then again, it's not the first time people vote against their own self interests.

The problem is, that under Roosevelt everybody was quite happy with the 'new deal' socialism. But you can't be happy about lobbyists controlling the government or paying more than $7000 dollars a person in health insurance and ending up with $500 epipens, we get for free. Or how about 6 weeks paid vacation a year we have here, paid maternity leave and good socio-economic planning. Admit it, your country has been f*cked over many times sideways by greed, i met people in the US who as a couple work 3.5 jobs and still don't have money to pay for things we take for granted, like hospital treatments without going bust.

America died nov 8 2016,

When you think about it, it died before nov 8 2016.

We forgot to include how totally obstructionist congress was.

Hell, they worked the fewest days, done the least amount of work than in recent memory. When there was still work to be done, they took off a month and a half earlier, took more vacations, passed fewer bills....yada yada..

And to hear the likes of Joe Scarborough and his puppet in the morning talk about how this current president wouldn't meet with congress to negotiate.

Then when they opposed his proposals, his critics said, well, it's a majority GOP in congress and elections have consequences.

If they all of a sudden spring up to work with trump, all of sudden find the time to meet with him, will speak volumes about them and the people who keep putting them into office.

Dude. You pay for it in taxes. Nothing is free. And I know many work colleagues in the UK (my company does not have offices in the Netherlands, or Belgium, an even more difficult country to do business in, what with your restrictive government workers councils, and so on), and their health system is a nightmare. Waits to see doctors. Diagnosis, and more waits to see the next doctor. What? You need a specialist? Oops, that ones going to take a while, probably months. In the meantime, most people simply go away and never return given the bureaucracy of the system. But ok, so everyone in a socialist European society gets free (ha, there goes that word again!) healthcare, no matter how shitty it may be. In the US, if I am sick I can call up my doctor in the morning, see him, and even have tests run the same day. And if I need another doctor or specialist, I just call up and get an appointment in a day or two. Yes, those without employer provided healthcare are screwed, but even they would rarely get turned away by an emergency room. Obamacare, the nightmare US attempt at socialized medicine, has resulted in skyrocketing premiums, with another 25% increase expected in 2017. What's the answer? Don't know. But don't touch my healthcare. And as for your six weeks vacation, yup, vacation in the month of August. Nothing gets done. Well aware. But fine, compare your economy to ours. Again, you pay one way or the other. Enjoy it. That's fine. But as far as I'm concerned, you can take your euro-trash BS elsewhere cause this American knows better, and I ain't buying.

BTW, if you hate America and its system, fine. Your view. Most of the world hates us because of our freedoms, our opportunities, our lifestyles, our wealth, our socio/cultural influence on the rest of the world, you name it. When it comes to politics, you're all baffled (hey, we are sometimes too). But don't tell us what's better for us, least of all some country with 17 million people. So whine, bash, cry, be jealous all you want. If you were truly happy with yourself, you wouldn't care one bit about the US.

Dank Je.

They voted for Trump and PENCE.

Pray they don't live to regret it.
Trump promised to put Pence in charge of domestic and foreign policy. If that is true, Pence would be the mastermind behind all of the presidential duties (what's not domestic nor foreign?) while Trump would be just a figurehead.

14% is a minuscule percentage in a (de facto) two candidates election.

Exactly. Trump will be too busy:

  1. Fighting all the lawsuits he has
  2. Shoving as many tax dollars as possible into Trump Resorts et al
  3. Putting as many Trump family members on the federal payroll
  4. Not paying any taxes
  5. Having state dinners with Putin both in Washington and Moscow as the divvy up the world
  6. Collecting protection money from NATO members
  7. Last but not least grabbing some executive pussy

I don't think he will have to fight any lawsuit at all. The attorney general is probably going to be Rudy Giuliani.

All the lawsuits I mean he has as a private citizen. Those will not go away namely the upcoming Trump University one.

This election a NUMBER of people voted against their own self interests including poorer out of work people were convinced that's the Democrats or Obama's fault, who think the GOP ever gave a damn about them or ever WILL, progressives who decided to "make a statement" by voting for someone they knew could NEVER win, and those who "voted" by not bothering to get off their asses and VOTE.

Time will tell whether they'll live to regret it.

Most experts think exactly the opposite actually. Then again those experts are no Americans, just Germans, Syrians, French, English etc. So what do they know, right? They agree though that with Clinton it most likely would have escalated.

Did you ever encounter just one politician who actually did what he preached before election? I for one have not. Hell, Trump already changed his mind on lots of things hours after it was clear he won. So yeah, you actually don't know what he will do in his presidency. Unless you are a clairvoyant.

I mean I am not happy about Trump as president. But i am fucking happy the warmongering Clinton isn't. In my book Trump just is the lesser evil.

Spin, and rewriting history. I suppose what is incomprehensible to me is how that base didn't transfer to Hillary, given your pointing out the traditional voting patterns of this demographic as Democrat. Oh, because she wasn't the best person? Whatever, moving on.

This whole thing must be blowing your mind, on so many levels.

The one who's "spinning and rewriting" is YOU. Understandable, given who, what you are. Or maybe you have a problem with comprehension, which is why you're making the bogus assed claim that, "NOW" I'm saying something different, as to why black people voted for Obama. Typical. You claimed we voted for him only because he's black. I said no, and you come here to claim I didn't. Well here's the fkng exchange, smart a------ (January 29, 2014):

you: "Hey, 97% of African Americans voted for him based purely on his race!"

me: "... it's "ignorant" if not an open display of one's own perspective to ASSume that "97% of African Americans voted for him based purely on his race", because it couldn't POSSIBLY be because we thought him the better candidate or that his candidacy better aligned with our own issues or concerns, COULD it? No, we "be" too damned IGNORANT for any of THAT to have been factor."
