*Bad Day for America's Racial Grievance Industry,* per the Wall Street Journal.

Let's see: America's whites for FOR gay marriage, they vote FOR a black President,(Mr. Obama got 43% of white votes and John Kerry only got 41%) and then vote against racial preferences in both Nebraska and Colorado. Michigan, Washington and California already have bans against racial preferences in government hiring.

Racism still exists, but making a claim that its the only source of racial inequality just got really really tough to justify. A majority of whites both want a colorblind and sexual prefernce equality of our society.

Wonder who Al Sharpton and Julian Bond will put their fingers at now?

Hopefully Mr. Obama will see that school vouchers should be part of the answer for giving poor kids a better education.

You just pointed out the point. It's time to look beyond race vs qualifications. I understand why most blacks voted for Obama... that was racist. But whites (and a few other minorities) seemed to look beyond race on a number of fronts this time.

there is only one way to provide a solid education

strong family and guidance

only having the number of children parents can afford to educate

anything else is lib twaddle

I suspect more than a few white voters pulled the lever for Obama to "reassure" themselves about their non-racist credentials. This was the highest turnout, I believe, since 1904.

OTOH, McCain, for a number of reasons, didn't make himself a particularly attractive candidate to vote for, although he never brought race up; only Obama did that.
