Just as I've always felt-- Nick at his core is anti intelligence, and represents the greatest threat to this country's rate of progress
The liberal idea of "progress" is to move toward a system where all money flows through the government, who will then decide what you eat, how you travel, what kind of house to buy, what kind of doctor to see, what kind of education to get, what kind of labor to do, what kind of allowance money you'll receive, what kind of funeral you'll have, etc, etc.
Progress to liberals is moving away from a system where the governmemt's only role is to #1 protect us from enemies foreign and domestic, and #2 make sure businesses are operating fairly with and/or against each other in the interest of the CONSUMER (notice I didn't say workers). In this system money, and thus the power and freedoms would be with the people. The businesses compete with each other to produce the best products and services for the best price. Wages for workers are negotiated between the workers and the business. People make money that they earn. Charity is run through non-profit organizations based on need and desire to support such charities.
Liberals don't like the latter system because they have become more consumed with ENVY against those who have worked hard to succeed than desire to succeed themselves. They wish could live their adulthood similar to the way they lived as a child - not much work and everything in life taken care of. They grew up spoiled so they feel entitled to this kind of care by someone bigger than them - in this case the govmnt.
Bottom line is that this kind of government alway oppresses. The socialist system inherently is less free because its a one-size-fits-all society. On top of that government always wastes money and never produces anything better or cheaper than the private sector and entitlements are and EXPENSE that produce nothing except for an easier life for those that don't want to do much. Lastly it takes away incentive for talented people to dream and achieve big things - which is what made America the most powerful contry in less than 200 years of existance. This system caused the collapse of one of the biggest empires since ancient Rome - the USSR.
So don't try to talk to me or anyone else with a braincell about the "progressive movement" being Progressive. Real progress was only created by the founders when they wrote the constitution. Liberals should read it and consider adopting it sometime soon, or at leat we fall like the USSR.
