Do girls love em or don't care?

Men with British and Austrailian accents are very popular with the ladies here in the united states.

One episode of MY NAME IS EARL, there was a french guy that came to the US to get laid because women love frech accents. He said he can't get girls in France because they all have French accents out there.

So does anyone know if women in other countries like guys with american accents?

Two years ago I moved to the Northeast USA (Boston area) from North Carolina and people are constantly asking me where I am from saying they love my accent (even though I do not have a strong Southern accent) so I guess it's anything that differs from the norm.

Simple answer...No...American accents are not viewed abroad the same, nor as exotic, as foreign accents are in the states.

I may be completely wrong, and forgive me if I am, but I think that with America being such a large place and lots of its culture oozing through to other countries; everyone knows an American accent in one way or another. It isn't unattractive by any means but certainly not a novelty. :)

My various Carolina friends who have ventured to the UK have also reported men and women both adore their Southern accents. My friends have said Brits love their accents so much that they'll buy them drinks in pubs and toast to them .

I've often been intimidated by visiting other countries wielding my Carolina accent, though. For instance I moved to Austin, TX 6 months ago and people here don't really have an accent to speak of... and they almost universally snicker when they hear mine. Yet when I've been in the Northeast, people seem to hang on my every word; say that I speak melodically and almost lyrically, etc. If people in Texas laugh at the way I talk, I can only imagine how the French would scorn me .

It's just interesting to me how people associate Southern accents with stupidity and ignorance. I'm neither of those things. And there is a HUGE difference between the way Southern hicks talk and educated Southerners speak. I suppose those who are unable to appreciate those differences are quite ignorant themselves.

I can see the attraction of the Southern accent until it gets Hillbilly, then I just get concerned for the genepool.

I can't abide Valley speak or whatever it is called and the more nasal the east coast accent, the less sexy for me. Just my POV.

Wow, I would not have guessed there to be alot of american accents in amsterdam.

I guess how people view accents in any country is pretty hit or miss.

I like the accent but it doesn't drive me wild with passion at the mere sound of it haha. Although, no accent does drive me wild.

Most Aussies don't really react to American accents. I think because there is so much American tele available, the accent isn't such an unknown. I find Americans are really nice about to me regarding my accent. They always show interest.... sometimes I am not sure if it is real interest or just an auto-reaction, but it is generally pretty nice.

Just go to Quebec. They practice equal opportunity hate for all english speakers. You won't feel singled out.

Actually I aksed a waiter in Montreal who had been particularly nice to us about that. I asked him if Quebec people didn't like english speaking people. He said no, we just hate english speaking Canadians.

That is because most people in Austin aren't born and raised Texans.
